Prologue

The little werewolf girl ran with her pack through the thick forest. The sunlight fought its way through the dense leaves, its only purpose to hit the ground. Her white and gray fur shone brightly as the wind played with each individual hair.

The mixed black and tan mutt at the front unexpectedly barked. The werewolf girl stopped dead in her tracks. Clouds abruptly covered the sun and the tall trees shed darkness on the group of mutts and one werewolf girl.

Ahead of them were five huge men, each with black eyes that had a dangerous glint. They looked over the group. It suddenly dawned upon the men what was happening. Their eyes lightened up and that threatening glint was replaced with a soft sparkle. One of them, the oldest, walked towards the group. His hair was grey and his hands scarred. His weathered face softened as his eyes landed on the little girl. The mutts began growling, but the little werewolf girl was not fazed. She simply yipped and wagged her tail as she battled her way out of the group of mutts.

“Can you change?” The man spoke softly despite his deep voice.

The girl yapped and spun in a circle. She began to turn into a human, ignoring the whines of her mutt family. The man quickly removed his shirt and wrapped it around her.

“How old are you?”

The girl simply smiled her widest, her warm golden eyes had a hint of pink when they glowed with happiness and her wild, untamed pale hair rustled in the gentle wind.

“She can’t be much older than four,” one of the four men behind the oldest shouted.

“Can you talk?” The eldest asked again, his yellow eyes trying to find any hint of knowledge in the girl. But alas, she seemed to be oblivious of her situation.

She turned to face her mutts. She went onto her knees and they all approached her to nuzzle her. Then, as if they were given a silent order, they ran off into the woods. The eldest man knew that they were headed for the human city that was miles away.

“What should we do?” The youngest of the five asked.

“We must take her to Alpha. He’ll know what to do.” The eldest replied. The little girl was enchanted by the eldest simply because she felt the power radiating from him, and stuck to his side as he led her to Alpha’s mansion
