Chapter 0

I see the smiles on their faces; bright, hopeful, and beautiful.

Clutching at their papers,

they sing a joyous note of celebration and fanfare.

Eyes become slits,

upturned with the pride of their wittiness,

they throw the last of their worries away.

I see the curve of their bodies; lean, lengthy, and feminine.

Swaying with their skirts,

they grab ahold of their lace against the wind.

Locks are golden,

tussled by the kisses of the weather,

big toothy grins plaster their faces.

For a moment I imagine I am them.

Then reality kicks me hard in the behind and

here I am, alone and worth-less again.

I see what I really am.
