Young Monarch was sitting in his chair uncomfortably. Whenever something bothers his mind, his body often was feeling itchy all over it. A girl, almost young as him approached from across the war table showing a detailed map of Europe.
“Do you need assistance sire?” she asked with a calm voice.
Considering the situation he found his sister’s voice was in contradiction with the thunderous sounds of clashing swords outside of the tent. She was wearing a ceremonial hard plate armour which they have found out that it was quite impractical when the battle got close to the main branch of the kingdom’s army.
“No, let it be. It reminds me that we are still alive.” He said.
“My king, you have to make a decision. we need to order our troops to retreat and regroup with the other branches or else, we will lose most of our elite soldiers.” said the commander of the 1st army, Gareth Maven.
He was one of the best fighters back in the days. Previous King has honoured him with the knight title. He was courageous but an excellent strategist.
“The reinforcements are on their way, your highness. If we retreat now, we will lose the opportunity to seize our claims in Duke Velmont’s territory by force.” Said Gillian.
He has been one of the provincial administrators when this land was belonged to the Kingdom. He was one of the most cunning people in his court, and far too loyal to the king. He would just shut up, if the king had made a decision already.
“I guess, this time we need to trust our luck” the king has finally spoken.
From his pocket, he took an old glass coin which was belonged to his grandfather, Philip IV. Legend says he remained alive after the Great War of Three Kings because of it.
Without a second thought, the young king tossed the coin in the air. The symbol of the flag would have been a fight and the maiden for the run. However, nobody thought there would be a third one.
Young king Erreath was the only person who had seen the reflection of a hooded figure on the glass. And first one to feel the cold blade thrusting his hearth from the back.
In mere seconds everyone in the king’s tent died in the hands of a few assassins and their fearless blades.
