Insomnia

Emptiness.

Darkness.

Quiet.

The shadows,

Jumping wall to wall

Playing an intricate game of tag.

I lie here alone thinking of pasts and new beginnings.

Of all the things that could have been

And all the things that may be.

Of the promises made and hearts broken

After hope being instilled into them.

I lie here alone,

In the darkness and emptiness,

Until they swallow me whole

And there is nothing left

But an empty vessel.
