A Short: One

Airis was the beautiful goddess of rainbows, and the link between humanity and the gods. Airis loved all of humanity and all of the colors of her beautiful rainbow.

One day, while marveling at the creation of her glorious rainbow; she thought how wonderful it would be to see all the pretty colors mixed together. Then, in a whirl of excitement and creativity she mixed all the lovely colors of the rainbow together, mixing some red here, some blue there, a spot of yellow here and a spot there, mixing it all in one big bowl colors flew around Airis in a fantastical flurry. When she felt content with her work she took a step back to marvel at her newest masterpiece.

Airis hated it. She couldn’t tell one color from the next. All of her beautiful reds and blues, the pretty pinks and purples, they had all blended into something no longer any color. It now looked like a black abyss of just nothing, and this made Airis very sad. Her rainbow was the most important thing to her, next to her humans, and she felt she had let humanity down by destroying her beautiful rainbow that was to be a gift to the humans. She now felt she owed it to them to make them the most important thing to her.

Even though Airis was putting all her effort and attentions into helping humanity, she was still very sad and greatly missed her rainbow, and the human's could tell. They brought her many more offerings, than normal, in an attempt to comfort their goddess. They were all very lovely and thoughtful offerings, but nothing would bring back Airis’s wonderful rainbow.

Then one day, Airis went down to Earth to discover the humans appearences had changed. She could see them emcompassing more of the globe than ever before. It seemed every corner she looked in had at least one human. Taking in the new view of the Earth, Airis spanned the whole globe. From one end to the other stood humans, all hand-in-hand, in the shape of her rainbow and in all the wonderful colors she could ever imagine.

Little to the knowledge of Airis, the humans learned about her rainbow mishap and wanted to fix things for their goddess. So they started searching every corner of the globe until they would find her rainbow. Never being able to find a physical rainbow entity on their Earth, they decided to show their love and support by coming together, from end to end, hand-in-hand, to make exact same shape as her beloved rainbow. With all the humans working together, they knew Airis would see them in the heavens.

Unbeknownst to Airis and the humans, the rainbow nevert actually disappeared. It was on Earth the entire, in the soul of every one of her beloved humans. Each and every one of the humans had become part of that beautiful rainbow Airis loved so much.

Airis, the goddess of the rainbow, marveled at all of her creations, colors of all kinds so lovingly spread amongst her beloved humans. Airis hadn’t lost her rainbow. She had only created a much bigger, more beautiful rainbow that she got to watch grow and would never have to see the beauty fade again, her beloved rainbow would always be there for her in her beautiful humans.
