The Last Heist
Today would be Henry's final heist. He had looked forward to this day for weeks as they had planned, but now that the day had arrived he found himself being sentimental. Sure he could probably take more jobs after this, but why would he? After all, this job would pay him more than any other job he had taken before. A handsome sum of money, enough he could retire wealthy and live out the rest of his days carefree.
Tony parked the car across the street from the jewelry store, while the team of four watched the clock. They would make their move at three o'clock when the store owner changed out the cash drawer.
Sebastian had actually been the one to case the target. He played his little act well. The store owner had fallen for his little lovesick boyfriend, eager to propose to his girlfriend and in desperate need of an engagement ring trick. So well in fact that it had gone to his head completely, but since he was the boss they all had to just deal with it.
Henry remembered the day he had got the phone call. Sebastian wanted to steal a rare ruby necklace, rumored to have been worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. If that wasn't incentive enough, the store was filled with expensive jewelry. All of it would soon be theirs.
Tony started up the car five minutes before and the team slowly watched the clock count down until the time finally changed to three. It's showtime.
Henry pulled down his monkey face mask before he adjusted the collar of his tuxedo shirt. His eyes then landed on Kade, the youngest member. Kade took the hint and pulled down his own mask, a rubber horse's head.
Henry released the safety on his gun. The other three followed suit. They were ready. Tony, in his pig mask, threw the car into drive and sped toward the jewelry store. In the parking lot, he flipped the vehicle around and put it in reverse before he crashed the back of the car through the storefront.
The moment the car came to a stop the team exited the vehicle. Terrified screams filled Henry's ears as he drew in the scent of burning rubber.
With their guns raised, Tony boomed "Get on the ground!"
Frightened customers immediately dropped to the floor.
"Now everyone take out your valuables and set them out in front of you," Tony instructed the small crowd.
Henry had expected some hesitation but to his surprise they started removing their wallets, phones, watches, and other valuable from their pockets and bags, placing them on the floor out in front of them.
Sebastian with his bull mask on, approached the store owner. "Open it, bitch!"
The attractive blonde started to back away from him but he struck her on the side of the head with the butt of his pistol. She shrieked loudly and grabbed the side of her head before she pulled her hand away and saw that it was red.
"Now!"
She did as he instructed this time and opened the cash drawer. Allowing Sebastian to empty it of its contents.
Henry smashed the glass on a display case. A young woman nearby screamed. He then dumped the entire collection of engagement rings into his black sack.
Kade went up to a case and shattered the glass with his gun before he relieved the store of its entire inventory of men's watches.
After Sebastian removed all the cash from the drawer he moved on to the center of the store where the ruby necklace was on display. He chuckled as he looked at the price tag and Henry could only guess what he was thinking.
"Forty-five seconds!" Kade yelled out.
"No reason we shouldn't leave ahead of schedule," Sebastian responded. "Thank you, everyone, for your corporation, have a nice day," he addressed his captive audience.
Henry whipped his head to the side when he heard a loud bang. His eyes immediately landed on the single security guard standing in the back doorway. A few drops of sweat ran off his double chin as he raised his gun in Tony's direction. Before Henry could even think the guard fired off a shot.
Henry watched in what felt like slow motion as the bullet went through Tony's forehead. Blood squirted out of the nose of his pig mask. Terrified patrons screamed out as his lifeless body tumbled to the floor.
"Bastard!" Henry swore.
He turned, ready to shoot, but a bullet fired from the security guard's gun hit his leg. Another shot rang through the store and pierced Kade's stomach. Sebastian fired off two rounds. The guard stumbled backwards, toppling into a display case, with two bullet holes in his chest.
Kade pulled himself over to the car and threw his bag in before he got into the front passenger seat. Sebastian went around and grabbed Tony's bag and checked his pockets, while Henry finished collecting the store's valuables. Henry turned to get into the driver's seat when he heard a woman's scream. He turned to see Sebastian yank a young woman to her feet by her hair and pulled her toward the car with his gun held to her temple.
"What are you doing?" Henry yelled. "We've only got twelve seconds."
"She's coming with us." Sebastian tossed the woman in the backseat and dove in next to her. Henry already in the driver's seat, stepped on the gas. His teeth clenched together from the pain. The tires squealed, kicking up glass shards and debris. They flew out of the store and swerved into oncoming traffic.
"Please don't kill me," the woman whimpered but they just ignored her.
Henry's heart pounded in his chest as he searched for cops in his mirrors. As mad as he was at Sebastian for bringing along that silly girl, but he wasn't about to take the time right now to worry about it.
He ground his teeth as he downshifted the car into the next gear and flew around a corner. The woman in the backseat screamed as she was tossed around.
"Shut up!" Sebastian yelled at her.
"Hey! It's your fault she's here in the first place!" Henry snapped.
"Aw... Fuck guys, this hurts. I need you to take me to the hospital." Kade whined in the passenger seat. Before Henry could address him, Sebastian fired his gun and shot Kade in the back of the head. Blood splattered the dashboard of the car and Kade's head whipped forward hitting the dash before sprinkling small splatters of blood all over the passenger side of the windshield. The woman screamed out in terror.
"What the fuck man!" Henry yelled at Sebastian as he opened the passager door and pushed Kade's body out of the speeding car.
