Chapter 1-Blast from the past
Chapter 1
I always wondered why everything was so perfect in my life. My family, my business and most importantly my marriage. My husband and I never fought, we understood each other. Well, I tried my best to understand him to avoid any trouble.
Before, it was like all the problems of the world were made for me. A marriage of convenience is what my marriage was all about. Nothing more, nothing less. And it has never changed.
“Mom! Look at James he spilled ketchup all over my shirt!” Emily hollered, standing up from the dining table where all of us sat.
Joseph was seated beside me, I was in the middle of Joseph and my mom, Bella. We adults faced Emily and James…well James actually.
“James why did you do that?” Joseph said and hit him lightly on his arm, making James giggle. I laughed at both of them, playing with my food.
Their bond is complicated. Sometimes I wished I had the kind of bond Joseph and my kids have.
To my surprise, I heard a knock on the door. “Who could that be?” I said standing up making my way to the door.
“Wait I’m coming”I said as I opened the door, the person knocked almost a million times. “You don’t need to be so im…” I stopped.
The person standing of me sent shivers down my spine. I couldn’t help but blush. I didn’t know how I felt. A blast from the past. Why was something I had kept from everyone back to my life?
Someone that brought tears to my eyes, and also made my heart smile was standing at my door. Memories, they filled my thoughts as I stared into those blue eyes of his. I missed those eyes.
“Molly! Who is it?” I heard Joseph’s voice behind me. My mind was brought back to reality, moments ago it was stuck in the past.
“I don’t know”I lied, I knew everything about him. From his favorite place to his greatest fear, I knew each and everything about him. I needed to find out what he was doing in my home. A home I had built for so many years, and I couldn’t let anything ruin it.
He looked confused, with the way I stared at him. He didn’t looked back, but he looked confused. Was he happy, sad, or jealous? Did he know about Joseph? I really wanted….no I needed to ask him.
“Henry!” Joseph said now behind me. Joseph went and hugged him. He finnaly let go of him after what seemed like centuries and faced me.
“Molly, meet Henry” he said and Henry stretched his hand with a smile. “Henry meet my wife Molly” I shaked his hand back. The touch was still the same. “His cologne has never changed, it was still the same” I said in my head of course as he walked past me.
My mind was in another planet as they exchanged pleasantries and both sat on the couch. “Molly, he’s the person I want you to meet” Joseph said as I sat down beside him.
Henry Harper’s pov
What looked so strange and special about this woman? I don’t know. Maybe it was because she was a very pretty woman, or because she looked welcoming and nice.
She looked very familiar, I just didn’t know where the face came from. She was seated directly in front of me. Looking into her grey eyes alone gave me goosebumps on my skin.
“Mom James won’t list….” A young pretty girl came in cleaning her shirt. She looked nothing like Joseph. She was in a extremely stained shirt, with khaki shorts and a pair of black canvas. Wait…just like me except for the stained shirt.
“Oh sorry” She said and turned back.
“Emily? When you see a guest what do you do?” the familiar looking lady said. Emily stopped walking away and turned back. Our eyes met for the first time. Her eyes were exactly like mine, sky blue, it was more like the ocean. It was piercing, and it was beautiful, just like her.
“Sorry. Hello sir, I’m Emily. I’m Mrs. Molly’s daughter. Nice to have you at our home” She said and smiled. Her smile made my heart melt like crazy. I am not the person that smiles because someone smiles too, but this time I smiled.
“Where’s your mom?” Joseph said. “Oh! I forgot she said she was coming” I leaned enough to see the door step.
