Secret Keeper Girl

Secret Keeper Girl is an event born out of Dannah Gresh’s book, “Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power of Modesty”, a book originally written for teen girls. Now, it is a special event for tweens and their moms. The mission of Secret Keeper Girl is to help moms and daughters grow closer to each other and closer to Jesus. They teach the secrets of true beauty, purity, and modesty.

Secret Keeper Girl events include live worship sessions, Bible teaching on true beauty, and their famous modesty fashion shows. Each fashion show includes three of their seven “truth or bare” fashion tests. These tests encourage girls to use common sense and good judgment when they dress, plus it teaches them that they can still be cool while dressing modestly. Here are the seven tests.

Spring Valley: Take your fingers and place them in the “valley” of your shirt. Does your shirt spring back when you remove your fingers? If not, great! If so, your shirt is too tight, but you can fix it with a bigger, more loose-fitting top.

Raise and Praise: Raise your arms up, like Maddie Rey going all in during worship. Is there any stomach showing? If so, poke yourself. The stomach issue can easily be solved with the Secret Weapon: a simple tank top! Just tuck it under that shirt and you’re all set.

I See London, I See France: Bend over and ask a girl to check you out from behind you. Does she see underwear showing through your pants? Try a lighter color underwear with light pants, such as white or light tan.

Mirror Image: If you are wearing shorts, sit comfortably on the floor, legs crossed. If wearing a skirt, sit in a chair with legs crossed. Do you see any thigh? If so, your skirt or shorts are too short, but don’t worry! Just buy longer skirts and shorts, or try “the Maddie Rey look”, putting capris under them.

The Plumber Test: Sit on the floor with legs crossed. Lean slightly forward. Reach behind you. Does it feel like your pants are too low? Time for the Secret Weapon again! Just tuck the tank top into those pants and you’re good!

Stand in the Gap: Want to know if your button-down is too tight? Stand sideways and look at yourself. Is there any gap between those holes? Modesty is not just about skin, but it’s also a matter of shape. Try buying a bigger size.

Palm Pilot: Place your thumb on your collarbone, where your shirt starts. Is there any skin showing below your pinky? Just put your Secret Weapon (tank top) on under that top! A quick cleavage coverage tool!

Make no mistake, Secret Keeper Girl! God wants you to be sensible and dress modestly. Being a secret keeper is a tough job, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can keep the secrets of true beauty and modesty and impact the lives of others around you. God will see it, and He smiles. He loves when we learn to live modestly.

Truth 1: Modesty is a delicate yet formidable power given to you from God!

Truth 2: Fashion is OK, but we need to use common sense and good judgment with it.

Truth 3: God wants you to keep the deepest secrets of your beauty for just one guy.

Truth 4: It’s not just fashion, it’s sin.

Truth 5: Immodesty has a strong attraction that lasts for a little while. Immodesty equals missing the mark.

Truth 6: What matters isn’t the fancy clothes you wear or the cut of your hair. True beauty doesn’t come from the head; it’s found deep within the heart.

Truth 7: Modesty equals obedience. Obedience equals love.
