Chapter 2
Smile is a girl with two different lifestyles. At school she is the rich girl and at home she is the poor girl. Leaving like this always made Smile sad at heart but she never showed anyone what she felt as she always made it a habit to wear her smile. Smile was raised by a single mother in a very humble background and her being the first child she always fell victim of the mother's furry. Her mother and father had separated before she was born and I guess the mother always saw her as a reminder of a relationship gone bad. The mother was a poor woman with a struggling business but always ensured that her children got what they needed in time. The father was a very wealthy man with a very big position in the government. Smile's parents had reached an agreement that the father would be responsible for the education of the sister and her. Yes! Smile had a young sister called Shine, and also like her name she was always shinning whenever she went. Their mother on the other hand was responsible for everything concerning them as long as it wasn't education related. This setting forced the two sisters to leave two different lifestyles. At school they never lacked a thing as their father made sure that they always had more than they even needed and they even attended some of the most expensive schools money could get them in. But when they went back home to their mother, they would be the children that are ever lucking something, the children coming from the poor household to the extent they could almost spend a day without food.
These two lifestyles molded Smile into a quiet person and one who is not so social. She had lots of friends but she found it very hard to trust any of them as she always wondered how she was supposed to be explaining to them her life in general as she was very sure that no one would ever understand.
Her father like the mother also always impacted his furry on Smile. It's like she was the reminder of a relationship that went sour. And so Smile slowly started putting on an act of smiling even when she was very sad because she didn't think anyone really cared for her and soon it became a habit as smiling became much easier than having to explain her problems to anyone. She therefore grew up knowing that the only person that she could rely on for comfort was her own self, as she discovered that it might never come from the parents. She couldn't even turn to the sister as she considered her young. Most people if not everyone that knew Smile thought that she didn't have any problems since no one had ever seen her sad or annoyed unless she is sick. Smile tried to make as many friends as she could manage, adults and age-mates in a search of a person she could actually trust or rely on.
Will Smile ever truly be happy and will she ever be able to trust anyone so that she can rely on them?!
