Captivating but irritating
"Ok, I have been sitting on posting this review for a while. I just want to say that I LOVED the first few chapters. I was laughing out throughout different parts of the story. Excellent plot developing. Cassie is fierce, witty, funny, and doesn’t take any crap. Love her. Then, we fast forward a few years to James... What a load of crap. I really did try to keep going with the story, but this whole section really put me off. What I don’t understand is, if the heat was supposed to be so encompassing, how was she able to resist it? How is she able to look past all of Tyson’s feelings of pure love towards her and go to James. I get she is protective of the boys and cannot be with Tyson (borderline lame), but then this “protective” nature has her staying with James?! She refuses to take any slack from Tyson, demands her independence, refutes and refuses him always, but then is completely submissive to James?! It doesn’t make sense to me. She shot Tyson with a shotgun for heavens sake, yet she portrays him as the beast and compares him to James. Unreal. It’s like she’s delusional. Tyson has done nothing but try to redeem himself for his earlier choices in the first few chapters, but let’s be honest he really wasn’t that bad. Like I said, I’ve been sitting on this review for a while and had to get it off my chest. Cassie Is seriously kissing me off. Update: So after finishing the story, I find myself still agreeing with some of my prior comments. However, I recognize that Cassie was in a mental state of fear for the boys that kept her in the relationship with James. Although this is a stretch for me considering how strong Cassie’s no nonsense demeanor is in the beginning. I LOVED it when she gave Tyson a good smack and a talking to upside his arrogant alpha ego. Priceless. I thought your writing style was superb. It takes great skill to be able to create something original that invokes passion within readers. Even though at times I wanted to reach through my phone and punch Cassie, I enjoyed watching her character’s development. I enjoyed the ending, lots of surprises that I didn’t expect, but absolutely love. I thought you tied everything together quite nicely. Waiting patiently for book 2 :)"
