𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐗𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐄, 𝘬𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪

THE NIGHT WAS YOUNG

and the people out seemed to be younger; with the streets littered with teenagers and college students celebrating their short winter break. you'd be one of them if you didn't flunk out with your friends in a heat of the moment act of stupidity, and sure you could go back. change things for yourself, but why would you?

no job seemed interesting, small jobs were boring, and being a pro hero would put you in the spotlight 28/6. plus, you didn't have a quirk. what a surprise, it just so happened to be a family genetics thing. you could remember your mom talking to you about it when you watched some video of a pro hero little y/n would die to be like.

"don't get your hopes up," she'd say, her voice breaking as she watched the sparkle in her child's eye dim. "we don't know if you're the lucky one or not, my dear."

you weren't, but the next kid they had was. guess it skips a generation or whatever the saying is. it wasn't a big deal for you, just meant you had an extra cool joint. how fun was that.

"mother fucker," a muffled curse slipped through your lips as you struggled to form the flame. the soft clicking of the lighter and small sparks only fed into your anger. you bit down on the cigarette that sat on your lips, keeping it in place while throwing down the plastic junk on the ground. you kicked it as you walked, watching it slowly break with each blunt kick until it was nothing but the scuffed shell. a corner store would be great about now, but the street you were on didn't seem to hold one, surprisingly.

the street lights didn't do a super job at keeping the streets bright, it's orange and white hues guided you through the twists and turns. at this point you were just wandering about, often stopping to ask for directions for a shop or if whatever blank-faced stranger kept a light on them.

after a few more minutes you found your knight in a black hoodie, by an alleyway. "if you're so desperate for a smoke, you should keep an extra light," a tall male chuckled, putting his pointer finger up and placing it against the stick. you inhaled the moment you watched the high flame dance.

"yeah, well," you leaned back, exhaling the grey smoke into the stranger's face. "good thing you were here, huh?"

he gave you a light nod while fanning the fume away from him. the smirk on his face growing as his eyes slowly undressed you. "what's a pretty girl like you doing out here so late," it sounded more like a comment than a question. you shrugged and took another drag of the cancer stick. "just...hanging out? what about you?"

"i was looking for some fun, actually," he stated, matter-of-factly. you couldn't help but feel a little curious about what he thought was fun—drinking, getting high, sex, finishing a puzzle, whatever it was, everyone had their preference for fun, and your type definitely wasn't on his list.

you pressed your lips together as you hummed, looking to the stick to watch the ash fall with each tap you gave it. "dunno if i want in, but have a good night sir," you smiled and turned back from him, only for him to grab onto the back of your scarf, pulling you back in the process.

"come on baby," he cooed, his feet dragged against the ground backward. "i lit your cig," he began, "it looked pretty against your lips, and i wanna see what else would look good in that mouth of yours."

you felt your body run cold, and your heartbeat increase and the only thing you could do was fight back. "lighting my cigarette isn't worth sucking you off," an elbow to the stomach and this would be all over. except when you did, he held on tighter; clutching his stomach as he yanked you back once more, this time letting go for a quick second before covering your mouth and trapping his other arm against your stomach as he dragged you in further.

muffled screams and pleads filled the empty street as you thrashed your body against him in hopes of breaking free. "shut the fuck up," he hissed, struggling to press you against the wall. you shut your eyes tight at the feeling of the brick against your skin, your body became tired and your throat was hoarse; you felt weak. not a moment later the man let out another curse. taking a small peak you could see red—small red feathers striking him down, pulling and lifting him away from you.

his grip remained on your scarf, choking you till you untied it, taking no time to leave the scene. the end of the alley was no different than seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. your feet carried you back to the sidewalk, yet no one was there.

your breath was shallow and quick—now you were panicking, the event was finally sinking in. tears prickled the edges of your eyes as you wrapped your arms around yourself.

"miss, everything is alright."

it's not. you turned to the voice, watching him step out from the very shadows you had just escaped from. he was an average male with red wings spread open, ones that could almost resemble an angel. he held out his hand for you to take, instead, you ran into his arms, holding onto him for dear life as you crumbled away.

it felt nice. he held you close, whispering sweet nothing's to calm you down. it was all hero talk, the same old shit he was taught to say. yet saying them to you felt different, he pulled away and wiped the tears from your cheeks. it felt wrong to admire you at a time like this.

he made note of this night; that this would be the first time he'd ever get to have you in his arms like this. but it sure as hell wouldn't be the last.
