Crystal Glow
"Athena! Get down here," my mom calls.
"Coming!" I said as I pulled my dress down over my head. I ran down the stairs to see food laid out on the table. With a letter as well, which has my name on it. "What's that?" I asked, sitting down.
"A letter from Crystal Glow Academy," my mom replied. I began to choke on my juice.
"What?" I questioned, "why would they accept me? A witch who has Cs and Ds in most of her classes?" I questioned once more my voice slightly rising.
"Not sure hun, but you better get packing as you leave for school next week. As well as get your supplies." my mom stated. My younger brother started coming down the stairs.
"You're leaving?" he asked with a solemn expression on his face. I walked over to him and bent down. Putting my hand on his cheek I replied,
"Yes I am Roland, I'll visit holidays if I can though, I promise," I then stood up and headed upstairs to pack my things.
As I was in Alora to get my school supplies and robes, I saw a couple of other students as well. One of which I knew from when we were five and in broom school. I walked over and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Hi, Maya!" I exclaimed as she turned around.
"Athena! Happy to see you again," she said, pulling me into a tight hug. I smiled hugging her back.
We both spent the next couple of hours helping each other getting their school supplies. Turns out she also got into Crystal Glow Academy, no surprise though. She always has gotten high marks.
A week has passed and I was on my way to Crystal Glow.
I can't
wait,
I thought.
To get there I have to go to an airport and go to gate H-390 Once I got there I walked through the gate to get onto the plane.
Nice
, I thought, boarding it. I found an empty compartment and sat in there placing my luggage under the seat. While I was waiting for the plane to start moving Maya and two boys came in and sat down. One of the boys seemed to be 16 and the other my age.
"Hi, " I said shyly. The boy my age looked at me and waved. "What's your guy's name?" I asked
He looked at me and replied, "Damien, and you?"
"I'm Athena Moonfall," I said. The two boys looked at me in awe when I said my last name. "What is it?" I asked confused.
"It's nothing," said the older one "I'm Matt by the way,"
We finally got to the Academy, it looked like a castle more than a school. We all got off and walked towards the entrance, a pixie flew around me for a short bit and dropped a moon necklace into my hand.
Weird
, I thought as I noticed no one else got one.
Once everyone got inside the cafeteria all year ones stayed standing while years 2-9 sat down at 4 tables, each with a crystal floating above it. At the front of the room, a rainbow gem floated above a stool.
A professor called everyone up by name and the crystal floated down into the person's hands after they sat down. It glowed a white color at first but once it was ready and a swirl of purple, blue, red, or green gems floated above the person's head.
When I got called up I was anxious, I sat down and the gem landed in my arms. I heard a voice in my mind saying stuff as it found secrets as well as memories. My eyes then snapped open and I saw a swirl of purple circling me. My robes then had a crest with a purple gem on it as well as a purple lining on the inside.
I walked over to my table seeing Damien there. I sat next to him and waited for everyone else to be sorted.
After everyone sat down food appeared and a woman got up and started to speak.
"Welcome new students, thank you for coming from wherever you live even if it's far. At this time, I will explain the gems for the first years who do not know yet," she took a breath, "or well, the gem is," she finished picking up the gem.
Purple gems, the Amethyst house, are protective of others, understanding, ambitious, modest.
Red gems, the Ruby house are noble, pure, courageous, and curious.
Blue gems, the Sapphire house, are very wise, have great virtue, witty, and compassionate.
Green gems, the Emerald house, are truthful, lovable, patient, and creative.
It wasn't very long everyone was tired. Eventually, cakes and deserts appeared next to the dinner food.
"So, how are you doing?" Damien asked grabbing a piece of fudge.
"I'm doing fine, just tired. You?" I replied, yawning.
"Same," he said. He grabbed a napkin and wiped the side of my mouth. "You had some chocolate there," he said.
"Thank you," I yawned. About to say something I got interrupted by the headmistress.
"You all may go to your house rooms now," she said as the students got up and left to their rooms. I stayed seated for a bit after, waiting for it to clear up.
After it cleared up a bit I followed the rest to the Amethyst Dormitories. It wasn't far from the cafeteria. To get in however you needed to scan a crest that was in one of your robe pockets. As well as we had to be told the rules before entering.
"Athena," Someone whispered into my ear. I looked over and saw who it was.
"Yes, Damien?" I replied quietly.
"Boop," he said, lightly touching my nose. I smiled, booping him back. I turned my gaze back towards the professor and continued listening. I could already tell, he and I were going to be close friends.
