Prologue

The shattered glass leaked out of the peak of the rugged tower, like pouring crystals, a dark woman reached out but only caught the sharp objects tumbling with her. Desperate to grab or be grabbed, her arms went frantic to catch the rim, but as the office’s light dims, her body was slowly consumed by darkness.

Alarms rang throughout her body, to catch herself, to get a grip of herself, to at least do something. But time seemed to slow to her, thinking more about what happened instead of what’s going to happen, her eyes open and mouth gaped, she tried calling out.

The world caught up to her faster than she would have liked. Colliding sharply against metal, the woman gasped horridly as her body slammed on the cold cement. Not moving for the second thought, knowing well when the pain rushes in.

The side of her ached terribly, as well as her back bending in a disoriented manner, she felt like if she moved, her body would snap like a twig.

She slowly, but cautiously tries to look upward. Every movement was another screeching irritation in her joints, but she needed to see, at least, where the light had gone.

But even looking back from her demise, she only distinguished the figures blocking the light. One of them being a large body gazing downward.

She could never see that man’s face and even if she tried, she crawled into the nearest corner as fast as possible. She would never want to meet his eyes, even her thoughts couldn’t imagine the face he has. But she remembers him. His figure and demeanor alone give it away, but she wasn’t the one to disobey him.

Now, she couldn’t decide anymore. She couldn’t decide after falling from her sanctuary, her home. She couldn’t blame anything or anyone to cause such a scene.

Her mind clustered, her vision blurred, even her nightly cheeks became lighter, everything feels hot to her all at once. She wanted to get up, to move, but all she can do is solely whisper.

“I’m sorry, ” Her voice choked out. “I’m so sorry.”
