Chapter I
The girl then nodded. Tears coming to her brown eye. "I- I understand. I'm sorry." She said meekly as she walked away to go cry to her friends.
"Dude, I don't know why you think you have to be so blunt when you reject them." Nash Griffen said to his best friend, Bryson Jackson, as he watched yet another girl that Bryson rejected crying.
He ran his hand through his hair, the dark tone of his skin getting lost in his floof of lack hair. "I don't mean to, really. It's just I don't know what else I'm suppose to say to them." Bryson responded as he ran a hand through his straight brown hair and let out a sigh.
"How about something like, 'I'm sorry, but I'll have to politely decline' or 'My apologies, but you see my heart belongs to someone else', not 'No, I'm not into you'." Nash told him.
"Nash, buddy, your closeted Shakespear geek is showing." Was all Bryson said as they walked into the florecintly lit cafeteria of Dawnstream High.
"All, I'm trying to say is, try to be a little more nice about it." Bryson only nodded in response. That's when he saw her. The only girl he actually took interest in. The girl that was his older brothers best friend. Ality Brooker.
She was the type of girl that every guy would swoon over, that is, if she would give them time of day. You see, Ality was a smart girl, in fact she's the smartest in the whole school, she was beautiful and confident, but she also just happened to have a very cool and aloof personality.
She was as mention previously, very cool and aloof, she was also very cold, blunt, stotic, cynical, and over all emontionless. And she was like this with everyone, well everyone but Bryson's older brother to Cole, and her bandmates, that is.
You see when Cole and Ality were alone Ality was smiling and laughing, and cracking jokes 24/7. Now, you might be wondering how Bryson knew this. Well, it's simple, Ality was at his house all of the time because of Cole.
Over a certain period of time he ended up developing feelings for her, and now here we are. Not to mention they were friends as kids, but Ality seemed to forget that after the incident.
Bryson watched as Ality lay her head on Cole's shoulder, her red hair cascading down her back. She ran her peachy fingers through Cole's short black hair, which was parted to the right side and shaved on the left.
He took the lip piercing on the left side of his bottom lip between his teeth as Ality said something to him. He put his arm around her and pulled her into a side hug as he responded to her, which she then nodded. "Just go talk to her." Nash said, as he pushed his best friend towards the girl's tabel.
Bryson sat down in the chair in front of Ality and asked, "Is anyone sitting here?" In response, Ality chewed and swallowed the Dorrito she had just taken a bite of, lifted her head off Cole's shoulder and said,
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" And Cole just chuckled in response, hugging Ality tighter, smirking at Bryson.
You see, Cole knew how his younger brother felt about Ality, however Cole didn't approve because his younger brother just so happened to have a history of being a womanizer. Still, Ality just so happened to be completely oblivious when it came to romance and attraction.
Nash let out a light laugh and said to Bryson, "Damn that's one harsh rejection."
Ality looked at the boys questioningly. "Rejection? Was someone confessing something?" She asked curiously.
"Reality, babe, no, no one was confessing." Nash responded.
"Oh, very well then. And Mr. Griffen, it's actually just Ality, though it is pronounced like reality." She told him as she pushed her black thick-rimmed glasses up by the nose piece. She then lay her head back down on her best friends shoulder and offered him a chip.
"No thanks, Princess." He shook his head.
Bryson glared at his brother for the nickname his brother gave his crush. Ality just nodded and ate the chip.
"Are you still on that diet." She asked him in the monotone voice she almost always used.
"What can I say, I have to look good for the ladies. I am the lead singer of a band." He smirked at her. She smiled slightly and let out a light laugh.
"Then I suppose I should go on a diet too. To have all the guys fight over me and everything." She joked. At this comment both Cole and Bryson's eyes darkened. They were both already fighting over her, in a sense, they didn't need fanboys all over her too because she's the only female in the band.
The boys then glared at each other, and Nash, noticing the tension looked at Ality and told her, "Babe you look fine. You don't need a diet. You probably already have more guys after you than you realize."
She just shrugged in response and took a sip of her cherry Coke. "You hear that Cole. There was a hidden meaning to what he just said." Ality said, looking at her best friend. Both Bryson and Cole were now internally freaking out, but kept there cool.
"Oh, and what would that be?" Cole asked. "He's saying that you still need to go on a diet because you don't have any girls going after you at the moment." She told him. All three boys then sighed in response.
"Are you saying you're not into me, princess?" Cole asked jokingly. She shook her head.
"No, I'm more into guys like Jace Harondale, and Draco Malfoy, and Simon Lewis, and Aaron Warner, and Jarrod Thorton, and Daniel Grigori, and, call me a child of you will, but Harry Hook and Carlos DeVil. May you forever rest in peace Cameron." She shook her head sadly at the end.
"So basically what you're saying is you're into fictional guys?" Bryson question.
"Very much so." She answered him in the formal tone she used with those that she wasn't close to.
"Oh, Princess. I got you something." Cole told his best friend.
"Really. Can I see it please?" She asked.
"Of course." He nodded. He pulled a Shoto Todoroki hoodie. It was black but the left side was red and half hot, with a flame design on it. The right side was blue and said half cold with an ice design on it. The back said 'What's my quirk? 1/2 hot 1/2 cold.'
Ality squealed at pulled Cole into a tight hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's amazing! I love you so much! You're just the best!" She then remembered she was in public and pulled away.
She cleared her throat and said, "Thank very much Cole. And yes I except your bribe to practice for the show for an extra three hours at your house this weekend." She said coolly as she dusted off her pants as if they had something on them.
"Ahh, how very perceptive of you." The ravenette chuckled.
"Yes, yes I am. Much more perceptive than you think." She said, going back to eating her chips. They all just ate until the bell rang. Once the bell rang Ality got up.
"I'll meet up with you at the front gate after school. Then we'll head over to your place to hang out for the weekend. Kay?" The redhead didn't wait for her best friend to answer as she just started walking to class.
Cole just smirked at his brother and said, "And another day goes by that she still doesn't notice your existence, huh little bro. Better luck next time." He threw a peace sign at the brunette and walked off.
"Bryson, dude, I think it's about time you step up your game." Stated Nash. They both walked into there next class as Bryson responded.
"Yeah, I know. Believe me I know."
