Jes - 1

I breathed in as I opened my eyes, leaning more into the pillow, arching my back. I stretched out my arms, listening to the pop of my joints with a loud groan. I let a grin stretch out across my face. This was it, this is the day, the day that I meet my mate. I guess it was a big deal because I’m the gamma of my pack, sort of the third in charge. It was fun being the gamma, seeing as my two best friends, Tyler and Eli, are the Alpha and Beta. Although, I’d say, I’m not the smartest, strongest, or tallest in the pack, because gamma is passed down by generation, I was automatically chosen for this position.

I closed my eyes again, letting out a deep breath as I focused on the noises downstairs. I heard the clacking of places being set on the table and the shouts and orders from around the house. I turned over, planting my face in the pillow and pulling the blanket back to my body, it’s too early to be thinking about this, might as well sleep in until later.

I felt a groan of annoyment come out of me as I heard loud footsteps making its way to my door, and before I knew it, the door slammed open, revealing my younger brother, Timothy. “Timothy, get out of my room.” I said and he glared at me but it changed into a mischievous grin.

“I’m not in your room, am I?” He said and leaned against the door way, but before I could say anything else, his body was launched forward with a loud slap to his butt. There, where he once stood, was my mother. Her long hair was tied in a braid that went down her shoulder. She wore a knee length light blue dress covered with a sunflower and white cardigan. She looked at me, a playful glare on her face.

“Why aren’t you up yet? It’s your big day.” She said as she walked forward, slapping my shoulder. I groaned as she sat on the bed, pushing my legs away. Before I could say anything else, a large body flopped over mine.

“You’re gonna meet your mate today!” Timothy said as he screamed in my ear. I reached up, pressing my hand to his face and pushing him away.

“Get the fuck off of me.” I said and I heard my mother gasp before a hand hit my head. “What was that for?” I said as I turned to look at her.

“No swearing.” she said and leaned back on the bed, closing her eyes as me and my brother did the same. I turned, wrapping myself in my blanket and dodging my fellow family members. “Time to get up.” Mother finally sighed after a few minutes, she slapped my back, causing a yelp. She grabbed Timothy’s arm and dragged him out of the room, him stumbling behind her.

Before I could get any more rest, two sets of feet made their loud way to my room. Large bodies launched themselves at me, jumping onto the bed. I moved out of the way, causing both the bodies crashing on the bed. “Get out of my bed you ogres.” I said and pushed them away as they tried to climb on me.

“Aw! We love you!” Eli said as he leaned in, kissing my cheek as Tyler did the same. “You ready to meet your mate today?” Eli said, he looked surprised, also like he knew something. I pushed him off, watching as his body fell on the ground with a yelp. He reached to rub his back, groaning in pain. “You didn’t have to do that.” He said and I shrugged.

“Anyways,” Tyler boomed, his bangs covering his eyes as he spoke. I reached up and pushed the hair out of his eyes, causing him to pause, looking at me with a slightly red face. I laughed as I rested my head back on my pillow, laying on my stomach. He coughs as he shook his head, “we should head out and get you ready for today,” he said and I nodded, “do you want to stop at CookOut before we go shopping?- it’s already afternoon.” He said and I nodded. I pulled myself up as Eli did the same. Quickly, I took off my shirt, turning around to see the air being sucked in by Eli and Tyler. I shook my head as I replaced my shirt with a navy blue sweatshirt and replaced my boxers with a new pair and some black jeggings.

“Alright, almost ready.” I said as I walked towards my bathroom, turning on the light. Opening my cabinet, I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste and began brushing, taking a quick break to wash my face. Once done, I wiped my face and left the room. I followed Tyler and Eli as they left the room, speed walking down the stairs to the entrance of the house. Once opening the front door, we walked down the steps and climbed into the car which was Tyler’s.

“So, after cookout, where do you want to go?” Eli said and I shrugged, “nonchalant answer? JC Penny it is.” Eli leaned back in his seat, stretching his arms out. “Jes, it baffles me how you are able to sleep in until twelve.”
