Chapter 1
The good news is we are all alone. Although we may not consciously believe it we are all lonely and solitude isn’t a choice we don’t get that choice. You know I think it’s interesting sometimes I forget we live in the world with other people. I think it’s so lonely out there. It’s so quiet out there and we don’t even know it. Not the quiet like the sounds around us but the quiet of solitude. I’m aware of life outside my own but in perspective we are all so small in the grand scheme of things. No one really cares. If it makes sense the world is too full to talk about it. It all doesn’t amount to much. Let me say that again none of it amounts to much. We fill our lives with meaningless things. We fill it with things, school, jobs, religion, pets, phones, music, drugs, alcohol, but most importantly we fill our lives with people, parents, friends, best friends, mentors, celebrities, teachers, ceos, employees. Anything to make us feel less alone. We just fill our lives with so many things and people and yet I feel that everyone deep down still feels lonely, we all still feel quiet. Yet none of us like to feel alone. I see pictures of people living their lives and somehow I get the feeling that I miss them even though I don’t know them. It’s all so strange and the more I think about it the more quiet I get again not the “no sound” quiet but a different quiet; how can the silence be so loud yet so quiet?
