Chapter 1
The gentle breeze blew through the window caressing my cheek. I blinked one eye open and the soft afternoon rays filtered through the partially closed curtains. I turned my head to the side and noticed a small pot of wilting flowers at my bedside, I then glanced down. I was in a hospital bed? I tossed the thin covers to the side and stood abruptly only for my feet to give out and fall back on the bed. How long was I asleep for? I wondered about studying the room. It was small with pale lemon walls and a white tile floor. There were two tables in the room one to my side with the pot of dead flowers and one that had a pile of papers on it. I stood again slower this time yanking the IV out of my arm and stepping out towards the table. A chair next to it was pulled out as if the person sitting in it was watching the bed. I turned it back towards the desk and lifted up the stack of papers sitting down. Lou Nikos age 18 as of accident (2027). Discovered in XXX Lake at 7/15/2027 1:48 with severe wounds and extreme blood loss. Went into a coma at time: 3:04 after being rushed to the hospital and receiving emergency surgery. Power: Unknown. I stared down at the first page. Lou Nikos,is that my name? How did I get hurt though? I pondered staring at the page for a moment longer, then flipping to the next. A small piece of paper slipped out on the floor and I stooped down to pick it up. A newspaper clipping. I lifted it up to the light and stared at the words typed out on it. April 5th 2030. News just released on escaped convicts of a powered prison. 5 former members of the Python gang escaped from maximum security Marriner Vivaldi prison, home to dangerous convicts with powers. Officials claim they went to check the cells and prisoner where the quote just went without a trace. Many speculate that Python has taken part in this mysterious disappearance. I blinked, astonished. I was in a coma for 3 years? And people have powers? What the hell is going on here I almost shouted but was cut off as the door to the room was thrown open, banging loudly.
