Epilogue

On the island of Shetland, Scotland they have a legend. A myth, detailing how their royal family fell apart from the inside. The Scott family ruled on the Shetland Island for hundreds of years. From Edward the first of 1340 all the way to Franklin the second of 1505. They were known for their vicious nature when in battle. Through the years many families tried to take over the island; each invasion being dealt with in a more and more cruel way then the last.

The most brutal Scott family member was Marcus the first; otherwise known as Marcus the bloody. While the Scott family had always been known for their horrid nature outside of their islands borders they had never in their history attacked the Scottish mainland. They may have been the devil to any man coming to their island but they never once showed any intention of taking their armies beyond their shores. That all changed with Marcus the bloody and his slaughter of Hascosay.

Hascosay, was a small neighbouring island that was just a couple hours ship ride from one of the Scott’s major stronghold. The island, which had a population of only around three hundred farmers. The deal which had stood since Edward the first took rule of the Shetland island was that they would give the Scott’s a large percentage of their yearly yield for their protection from the mainland.

While the farmers kept their end of the deal until Marcus the bloody took the throne nothing could clench his great greed. He demanded more and more food each year. When the farmers failed to meet his demands he began the raids of blood if 1486.

The farmers never stood a chance. They set up a militia when they saw the ships landing on their beaches; but in the end a bunch of farmers with pitchforks against one of the most deadly armies Scotland had ever seen? They never stood a chance. The population of Hascosay was cut to less than 50 during the raids, the fields on the island were never able to grow crops again due to the blood of the farmers soaking into the soil.

Marcus the first name was solidified in history on that day. His actions would ultimately lead to the killing of the entire Scott household when the mainland heard of his actions. Well the entire household with the exception of the Marcus the second. Otherwise known as the runaway prince.

There are many different theories about what happened to the runaway prince; some say he fell in love with a peasant girl. Running away so he could be with her. Others say that he was sick of the abuse his farther would pass out to his subjects and family alike. Children across the island talk about how he joined the assassins guild, known as the blood falcons. Living the rest of his life as a feared killer.

No one rumour has ever been proven true about the runaway. That is until now, for here is the story of the runaway prince. Marcus the second. Last of his name and the greatest mystery to ever occur on the Shetland island.
