Chapter 01, Witch At 11...

I woke up in my soft and cozy bed on my 11th birthday. I was so excited and felt the need to sing. So I played some of my favorite songs while I got ready. I wore a nice summer dress, and my hair was in a french-braid that my mom did the night before. And I could hear my mom downstairs. I then notice that my dad’s picture was crooked, so I fixed it and headed downstairs. “Oh, hello there. You must be Madison” said a stern voice. And I look up to see a woman who was about 60-70 years old. She wore an emerald green dress and a beautiful green necklace. Her blue eyes were a bit hidden from her glasses.“Yes, yes I am. And you are?” I said politely.

She looked as if she was about to answer me and then my mum cut in. “That’s my mother, your grandmother,” she explained. “Well, it’s nice to meet you!” I giggled. We all went out to get breakfast. It was a bit awkward, getting used to London because we just moved here after what happened back in Seatle. We ate pancakes and drank orange juice for breakfast. Then we all talked a bit more about our personal lives. And she mentioned that she worked at a school by the name of Hogwarts which was very familiar for some reason. We talked more about things that I liked to do because it was my birthday, wasn’t it? We all went for a few more stops until we had to head back home.

I received many gifts from my mom and a very special necklace from my Grandmother. And lastly, at lunch, we had my cheese-cake. My dad said that I had to have Cheese-Cake on my eleventh birthday, so I did. My mum told me that cheesecake was “absolutely delicious”. I missed my dad, he passed away when I was 9. But luckily he made birthday cards for every year so that I could read them.

“You will be going there soon,” my Grandmother said. “And hopefully she likes it there” My mom replied taking another bite of the cake. I then walked over to my Grandmother and hugged her. “Thank you for coming to my party, I never had such great company.” I smiled. And she hugged me back. “In fact, I hadn’t had any company at all,” I said.

A few hours had gone by and Minerva had already left. My mom told me that I had one more surprise tomorrow. So I could hardly sleep.

The next day, I woke up and went downstairs immediately. My mother was sitting downstairs holding a letter. Many questions popped up in my head. Who is it from? Is it for me? What does it say?

“Well don’t just stand there, come on!” exclaimed my mom. “Is it for me?” I asked softly.“Well of course it is, I don’t usually get mail do I?” My mom said raising an eyebrow at me. I shook my head walking towards my mom grabbing the letter and opened it. And what I saw shocked me...

Deputy Headmistress

It was nice to see her name on the paper but I was a bit confused. Witchcraft and Wizardry? That’s magic, right? And magic isn’t real. At least I think so.

My mom started smiling even wider, I wondered why she was so amused. “You are going to be just like your Mummy!” she cheered. “But ma’, what does this mean?”

“It means you are going to the finest school of witchcraft and wizardry my darling.” She said causing her to smile even wider. “So I’m a witch?” I shrugged. “Exactly” My mother verified

Woah, I’m a witch?...
