It's All In Good Fun

I stop for a moment.

Your eyes meet mine.

You’re teasing me

but suddenly a feeling tells me it’s more than just teasing

and that the tower card haunts me for a good reason

and I have a moment where I remember

that you and I

are just two people on this planet

floating along with everyone else

floating alone with everyone else

getting older as the minutes drag on

getting older every time you tell me not to get sassy

and

getting older every time I tell you I’ll drop the attitude.

It’s all in good fun.

Wouldn’t you say?

It’s all in good fun,

the way

I look at you and want it to be more than good fun

the way

I see you and remember how a year ago

I could look at you and feel indifferent

especially when He was around

and how the way

I look at you and feel relief for not being stuck in my old delusions.

It’s all in good fun, I say.

I hope it stays that way.

I don’t know if I could bear anything else.
