Free At Last
Chapter: Free At Last
3. 2. 1. The bell blared through the class as students grabbed their bags and scrambled out of class. I’m free. Holy fucking hell, I did it. I passed senior year and now I’m done with this hellhole of a high school. At least I met my three friends Phoenix, Lemon, and Lime here. Too bad they were stuck in this shithole for another year.
Lemon playfully punched my shoulder. “How does it feel, you lucky bastard, to finally be free from this hell?”
I walk into the parking lot as we all cram into Phoenix’s car. I get shotgun because we’re married as Lemon and Lime are a gushy gay mess in the back. Another reason I’m shotgun. We hung out at Kitty Cat’s Malt Shop and when the sun started to set they went to a store, stole four shopping carts, and rolled down a large hill in them. When we got sick of that we lay down and smoked. Well, Phoenix and I smoked. Lemon and Lime were having gay sex about six feet away from us but that’s not uncommon behavior for their relationship. I sigh chucking my shoe at them.
“Get a room losers!”
They groan as Lime throws the shoe back at me and I catch it throwing it with my other shoe and socks letting the cool summer grass nuzzle in between my toes inhaling the smoke from a quite tasteless and almost bitter cigarette. I use my lighter to create small burns on my skin and use my hand to light a new one quickly putting out my arms when I see Phoenix, Lemon, and Lime heading in my direction.
“Hey it’s getting late and buggy wanna go home.”
Phoenix lives with her parents but Lemon, Lime, and I live in a shitty two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. The lovebirds share a room while I thankfully have my room. It’s small but better than living with the parental unit. My mother and I don’t get along well. She doesn’t like the concept of me being trans. It sounds like her problem I’m free from my parents and high school. Anything could happen.
