Woas/World of Arts School

Arrival

What a glorious day to reach at this place that would forever change the person I once knew as myself. Hello my name is sia just sia I have red hair with fair skin and eyes that are as blue as the ocean. My biological parents gave me away when I was two months only or that’s what I was told, I guess they weren’t ready to be parents as yet. But anyway, I was given to a church full of children whose parents left them as well.

The owner of the church was nice and friendly also old but very strict, he would be assisted by some of the sisters in the church. Every child was to perform a specific task in the church each day. We would be fed, clothed and cleaned, the church was awfully big with a yard twice its size filled with animals and crops. The owner was Mr Leon Lifford, he does not come out his room often due to illness. If he does, he would sit in a wheel chair and watch the children play. Well, I was now seventeen. Old enough to leave the church, I didn’t leave though for I had attached myself to the owner, also I had no money, what was I to do when the church is located in the Forest of Eldon a very wide never ending pile of trees.

I was trained and put to study and write, that’s when I discovered something unusual about myself.

I woke up scanning the big old room that was filled with children younger than me. I was the oldest so I was piled with more work, I normally joined Mr Leon in his office for a chat. So I got dressed and headed to his office. I opened the door lightly and peeked in to see one of the elder sisters and Leon talking. I couldn’t make out a word so I opened the door a little more, and now was able to hear the unexpected conversation “sir. We have to get rid of her now, she’s scaring all of the little children and is an outcast to us at this point.” The sister said “please, don’t say that I cherish that child as if she was my own daughter.” “I know sir, but she has become more powerful and she doesn’t even know” more powerful? I whispered to myself. Leon turned his chair around to face an open window behind of him. “she has, hasn’t she. But what can we do? she has no money and her family is not near, we don’t even have a contact number for her mother” Mr Leon looked down as the sister then spoke “I may have a solution that may be the answer to all the trials we’ve been facing” I continued to listen to their ongoing

Conversation “we can send her in the woods to live, haven’t she gotten use to the studies and history of this forest sister?” Mr Leon blurted out as he turned his char to face her “s sir we cannot do that she’s only seventeen sir that’s mass suicide, you know theirs wild animals and wizards in the Forest of Eldon” she said disappointed of Mr Leon’s statements, after all his crooked teeth and gray uncontrollable hair and dirty clothes doesn’t compare to the knowledge he has of this world. I thought for a moment before wondering, I’m seventeen, in fact I’m the oldest, am I the one their trying to get rid of? but why? Questions rushed through my head as I heard sis spoke “I have an idea better than that of yours” she uttered “let me hear it” he said intertwining his fingers and leaning on his desk “so I have been thinking does she know the truth about her life?” captivated he leaned in closer “no why would I tell her?” “why not, it’ll play a huge roll in the school I will entrust her to” “school? really now” leon said “yes, how about a fraction of that knowledge about her family huh?” he stroked his chin awhile “alright, if it’s for the best then it is for the best, but I wonder what school will she be attending?” “it’s a private school sir, must I tell you in your ear?” “why so?” “to be safe of course we raise children here not cattle, their quite knowledgeable don’t you think?” she got across the table, and told him a load of info that I struggled to capture “alright summon her in at once” “sir” she got up from the chair, as she, did I peeked back from the door and took direct five steps back, so that it may not look like I was already here. I then began to walk when I saw the sister made her way out, she twisted her head to the left and met my eyes “oh dear Mr lifford would like to see you” “is that so” I whispered to myself “what did you say dear?” “oh nothing elder sister” “alright, come down for dinner later ok?” “why? I eat in my room sister” “I know but please just sit with your sisters and brothers for a while” “ha, sisters and brothers you say, don’t make me laugh, does sisters and brothers scorn one another? do they love to gossip and ill-treat them as well?” I said anger raging as my eyes glowed red “please, please just join us” she said as she tried calm me, my eyes then returned to the ocean eyes it once was and I was now being hugged by my elder “I I will join, just this once” I pulled away and pushed open the door to Mr lifford’s office, and popped my head in first “you wanted to see me sir?” he gazed up “does it look like I am over their sia, come sit” I made my way into the luxurious office with walls covered with brown polished wood, a book shelf that sat to the right of his perfectly centered oak desk, that was filled with unnecessary papers and books, a seat in front of his desk, I took a seat and stare at his pricing eyes. He then began to speak in his booming voice “dear” he shook his head “what is it sir” “have you ever wondered why you were sent to this orphanage?” my eyes showed fascination, for it never clicked to me why I was here or the truth that would be. “your parents or I would say parent brought you here of course but it’s because you have arts” “a arts?” I said to him with a raised eyebrow as he continued “it’s a power, that a user can wheel, your power is quite un usual its self, for it is not one you may find easily my dear” “what? Powers” I chuckled, he then looked at me with a serious face that look like he was about to devour me in the process “I apologies sir, what powers do I have?” “the power of ‘not even human’, cool huh?” “what kind of power is that” I scrawled my face “it isn’t a power my dear child, it’s a gift” “from whom?” “your mother, it’s a power to deflect all arts” “uh huh” “are you listening” he said “yes continue sir” “I intend to” he rolled his eyes “we had no real trace of your father, but your mother left you here” “out of all places she chose here” “your mother told me everything and told me to give you a message of the sort”

“What is it?” “she said ‘you will know in due time my dear please wait a little longer’.” Just picturing how my mother would be is enough to trail my attention away from leon “so sir how strong is this power exactly?” “very strong and dangerous” dangerous? Why would my mother leave me with a dangerous power? “it can harm those around you and its very rare, you might face a little difficulty in the school I am about to send you?” “SCHOOL” “yes I know you’ll miss us but” “who am I missing really? These children won’t miss me in fact when I am gone a feast will be kept” “don’t say that we’ll miss you I guarantee, anyways” “yeah right psh” “your attending” he came closer in a low pitch voice “Woas- world of arts school, you will have dorms a uniform and knowledge, you are going there to learn sia” “I know I know” “you are leaving tomorrow” “tomorrow? but why?” “because it’s a three days’ journey dear” “got ya” I got up from my chair and was about to head out when a question popped into my head “sir” leon looked up from his desk “mm” “why are you now choosing to send me to school? am I not doing well in the orphanage?” leon was silent before an answer was given “because you are getting stronger and no, you are doing amazing things for this orphanage and the sisters and I appreciate that but” he drank some water beside his desk on a foot stool “your powers are getting out of hand and its bothersome to the kids” “how do you know that, you barely come out this room.” I stated “the sisters told me, for the past few weeks’ chains have been evolving around you when you sleep and they become bigger and bigger each night” “isn’t it cool?, never saw it but sounds amazing, those kids are scardy cats” “no their not, the kids, the sisters they’ve all seen it and its quite dangerous, I don’t know how but you have been cutting up the walls with your power” “oh that’s the reason we got no current today” “exactly” “but isn’t my power to deflect other powers “call it a two in one, you can deflect powers and also cut through things” the bell rang for dinner and the sun was now upon the waters “are you eating in your room today?” “no, sister invited me to their little tea party” I said sarcastically “sia” he rumbled in a low voice “be nice”

I went down the long stare case to meet a long table placed in a huge cream room. The table was set as if a queen would be dining with us. I saw the children looking at me and started whispering amongst themselves, I rolled my eyes for I was used to it by now. When I got to the table I sat next to no one, not one sister, not one child. Food was set on the table and we all took and ate. It was now bedtime, I sat up in my bed waiting for this unusual power to perform. But I waited and waited until my eyelids felt like rocks were weighing on them, it was now almost midnight and I would stop myself from sleeping. But when I was about to give up to temptation I heard chains rattling in my ears but I didn’t mind them, until a light that was shown in my eyes forced me to look. When I finally did, I saw sisters and children ducking and dodging and panicking while running out of the room. I started kicking my foot for I was now hovering in the air above my bed. It all then stopped as I fell and hit my head against the bed rail “owyy” I then glanced around the room seeing all the blue wall paper and wires that ran from one room to another cut in pieces “d did I do that?” I questioned “sure did” I saw one of the sisters pushing leon in a wheel chair beside my bed “I’m sorry sir it” “was an accident? don’t worry it’ll be fix by tomorrow just, stay up for the night will you? how about some coffee and a chat huh?” “o ok” “get some ice pack for her head” he demanded. Later that night I stayed up chatting with leon in his office and it was quite pleasant, the sisters and children were complaining though but I don’t care cause I’m leaving tomorrow.

One of the sisters knocked and entered the room “excuse me, sia?” I turned my chair from Mr leon and I looked at her “you must get ready my child you must leave early, the cab will be coming soon to get you, so go get your breakfast” he said leaning in his chair “ehm sia, the elder sister asks for your presence at the table” the sister said “again” I held my hair “go sia it’s the last time dining with your” “I’ll go I’ll go” I cut him off rushing out of the room pushing past the sister heading for the dining room. I enter the massive room filled with everyone even elder sister. I made my way to a chair and sat alone as usual with everyone staring at me. I began taking my food and dishing it on my plate, “we all are here to say our fair wells to sia before she leaves us for good “elder sis announced, I looked up from my plate and scanned the room for everyone’s reaction but wasn’t surprise of the outcome, everyone was still filling their mouth not a person looked at me “what a way to give a fair well” I said before taking my plate and headed to my room “where are you going sia?” elder sister asked “ where else but my room, I don’t get criticized their” I mumbled “I’ll get ready, I don’t need your fair wells ok?” I waltz up to my room slamming the door behind me, leaving nothing but bickering in the dining room

I took a long shower and by the time I came out it was almost time for me to leave. I saw my uniform set on my dresser next to my bed. It was old fashion but classic at the same time, a green jacket with a black turtleneck undershirt and a pleated skirt, with my hair let loose and black long socks with black sneakers.

Now. I’m. Ready.

I got my things together in a black leather travel bag. I took the bag and rushed down stairs for it was about time I leave. I launched down the stairs to see everyone standing at the door way along with Mr. Lifford and elder sister forcing smiles on their ridiculous faces “fair well si” everyone shouted before I bluntly interrupted “just drop it, I don’t need your pity fair wells” surprised spread across their faces as I forced my way through the crowd until I felt a hand grab my arm from behind. I angrily looked back to see the person who dares to touch me and, its leon. “this is not the way you leave sia” I pulled away my hand and turned my body towards him “you should have told them to rehearse, sir” I said before pushing his hand away and running outside to the waiting vehicle. I tossed myself and my bag in the car and closed the door. The car started and took off. I didn’t even look back to the place that was not a home to me.

The three days’ journey took so long it felt like years. when I did reach I stopped in front of what seem like a castle “wow” I held my bag tightly. The school was a cobble stone tower with different sections separated by also a cobble stone high fence with beautiful flowers in separate sections of the school. The castle flew a green and black flag with their school crest on it. My leg trembled out of anxiety “what now?” I asked, as I saw students walking back and forth rushing to classes. I froze when I saw two girls approaching me. One of the girls had unusual short pink hair with rings around her head and three circles hovering over them with the same uniform as me, carrying a single sword strapped behind her back. The other girl had long purple hair and two swords on her back with a moon and heart hovering over them with rings. “what unusual people” I whispered to myself. They finally arrived in front of me with smiling faces but why, why do I feel like they will destroy me? I have never seen them before but why? I ignored my screaming inside voice
