Chapter 1 [Matthew]

Oliver's POV [Matthew]

0

Uncle Logan drops me off at my mom's house before handing me my backpack and pulling out of the driveway. I head inside the house.

I'm not going to tell mom what happened at the lake house. That would definitely be a problem.

"Did you have fun?" My mom asks as I come inside and take off my shoes. I avoid looking at her eyes as I answer.

"Yeah, sure." I answer simply. She narrows her eyes as she continues to look at me.

"What did you do?" She questions.

"We went swimming and stuff like that." I answer before walking dawn the hall to my bedroom.

I close my door before sitting on the bed. I unlock my phone and see a message from Matthew.

I get off of my bad and go into the living room where my mom is watching TV. "Hey, mom?" I ask.

She pauses the TV and looks up at me. "Yes, Oliver?"

"C-can I spend the night at Matthew's house? His mom will take us to school tomorrow." I ask, hoping she says yes.

"Hm, I don't know. I've never met his parents. You trust him though, don't you? Pack your bag and call me when you get there. Call me if anything happens. Anything." She says, putting emphasis on "anything."

"Okay, I promise. Thank you!" I say, running down the hallway to my room. I get an extra backpack and pack my clothes and stuff.

I grab my school bag and my bag with clothes and stuff and go back into the living room. I hug my mom before going outside and walking the couple of streets it takes to get to Matthew's house.

Once I'm there I knock on the door. It's a nice house, honestly.

A woman opens the door. Her dark blonde hair only going a little past her shoulders. She's about the same height as me so probably 5'6"ish.

"H-hi. Y-you must be Mrs. Davis. Is Matthew here?" I ask nervously.

She smiles and nods her head. "You must be Oliver, yes he's here. And please, call me Amelia." She tells me. She steps away from the door so I can walk inside.

I step inside and before I can even take another step Matthew runs into the room and hugs me tightly. I laugh and hug him back. I feel my cheeks warm up from the contact.

No, no, no. Matthew is a boy! I can't feel like that!

"I missed you, Oliver!" He says loudly, backing away from me but still holding on to my hands.

"I missed you too, Matty." I tell him. His smile is so cute. Matthew doesn't act... like the other boys at school. I've heard many of the kids call him "girly" or "weird."

Matthew's hair color most likely came from his dad. The dark brown looks nice with his mother's brown eyes.

I got my looks entirely from my father. At least that's what I'm guessing. I've never seen the man my entire life. I don't ever want to either.

It's nice that Matthew has both of his parents. He's always so happy when he talks about them.

I hear footsteps and me and Matthew turn to face the door to what's probably the living room.

A tall women with black hair and green eyes walks into the room.

"I smell happiness." She says, a serious look on her face.

"Mom, that makes no sense." Matthew laughs.

The woman smiles and ruffles his hair. "Just kidding I heard you squealing from the living room. Oh so this is Oliver! Matthew always talks about you." She says.

Mom? I turn to look at the woman still standing next to the door. But isn't that his mom? What is going on?

Matthew notes my confused expression. "Oliver, this is my mom, Sophia." He tells me gesturing to the dark haired woman. "And this is mama, Amelia." He tells me, now pointing to the woman next to the door.

"Two? But how?" I ask, still very confused. The blonde lady, Amelia laughs.

"We're married. Sophia is my wife." She says softly, walking over to her wife and taking her hand.
