Chapter 1

"Monster" - Skillet

March 29th, 2019

Red and blue lights flash outside the house as Georgia Marsh stands above her parents' bodies covered in blood.

She's not sure if its hers or theirs, but she cowers in the shadows as cops push past the entryway, guns blazing and guns loaded, ready to fire at anything that moved and things that didn't.

Georgia silently crept to the bathroom her parents kept locked when guests weren't over and picked the lock with her hair clip, sneaking in and tip-toeing to the sink before pausing to listen for any footsteps and turns the water on, washing away the blood all over her hands and face.

A walkie-talkie beeps right outside the bathroom door and Georgia freezes, shutting the water off as quietly as she can humanly manage.

"There's nothing here. Let's remove the bodies and get them autopsied." A cop speaks into the communicator before nudging the bathroom door open and pointing his gun at the girl before him in the midst of scrubbing blood from her skin. "Put your hands up, slowly."

Georgia paused and raised her hands in surrender, not wishing to be shot.

She starts to cry and crumble before him. "I didn't do it. I swear."

"Keep your mouth shut. Everything and anything will be used against you in court." The cop slaps a pair of handcuffs on her and muscles her outside.

The chilly night air bristles against her bare skin in the nightgown she wore that barely covered her body and she shivers.

The officer touches her bare thigh and tries to cop a feel but she kicks him, nailing him where it would definitely hurt.

He wrestles her into the cop car with one hand and slams the door so no one can hear her pleads.

The interrogator faces her with a grim smirk. "Can you tell us exactly what happened?"

She looks at the officer guarding the doorway with a loaded gun and she swallows, anxiety crawling up her spine.

Sweat drips down her face and she wipes it away, trying to calm her erratic heartbeat.

She hears the slight movement of the cop tapping his finger against the barrel of his weapon.

A knock sounds from the only exit of the room and a woman sticks her head inside, whispering something to the guard.

"Come with me." The woman fully steps into the interrogation room, towering above the two men in her stiletto heels.

"Who are you?" Georgia rubs her sore wrists and tentatively follows her out of the room.

"The person saving you from certain death by these monsters."

"I didn't kill my own parents." Georgia slides into the black limo, uncertain of her future. Something about the stranger told her she wasn't in any immediate danger. "And you didn't answer my question."

"Everything will soon be answered, Georgia."

"How do you know my name?" The redhead asks. She braces her hands against the seat before her and inhales as the anxiety passes through her again. She didn't trust this strange person and she wanted out of this situation as the car drove away from the town she called home for the past 17 years.

Georgia tried to peer outside but the windows were tinted so dark the world looked purple.

"It was on your submission essay, Miss Marsh." The woman clasps her hands and crosses one leg over the other. "I am the director of the college and I hope you enjoy it here at Moonville Academy."

The limo slows to a halt and the door is opened for the redhead.

Georgia steps into the harsh sunlight and shades her eyes before following the director into an ancient, historical building and looks around at the art hanging on the walls.

"I was not expecting this." The redhead cracks her knuckles and walks into the main office. "I thought it was like an actual college campus."

"This is just one part of the academy. You'll be staying in the Vlad Hall."

"A dorm hall named after Vlad The Impaler. Nice." She shrugs.

"One of the RA's can show you around."

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
