Soulmates
I was drifting
alone, unknown
I kept reaching
for what,
I did not know
I was empty, hollow and cold.
But, an idea was borne
from the chaos and pain
of my mind, my soul
of someone unwhole,
unfilled, unfulfilled
someone wanting,
searching,
for someone like me
the other half of his soul
Then, out of the blue
we meet..
two souls finding
a voice in the void,
calling our names,
binding our souls,
filling the emptiness,
fulfilling a need,
making two halves whole.
But fate is fickle, capricious
and cruel,
for the promise of forever,
she holds aloft,
unreachable, unattainable,
tempting and tortuous...
must we then end it
and despair?
Fate may be cruel,
but Love is kind and generous
and in her arms
two souls may still
find peace
together at last
in the graces of Eternity
where you, my lover
will finally be mine
to have, to hold,
forevermore..
if not in truth,
then at least,
in my heart,
in my soul,
in my dreams!
