Chapter 1: Pilot

While driving, I heard sirens wiling across all directions but only heading for one. Pedestrians confused by the minute. I wondered, could this be a serious matter? I kept on driving to my desired destination as I met up with Agent Williams. He stood right in front of the crime scene with his notebook and pen taking notes. I could see citizens taken down to the police station as they were witnesses of the crime. Once I arrived, I quickly jumped out of the car in curiosity wondering what all the chaos was about. I carried my notebook and pen and stood by Agent Williams.

“Do you see this, Detective Wilson?” He said with a shaky tone, “This isn’t no ordinary murder, this was a planned murder.” As he said that, I took a glance at the ground seeing a dead body who looks like he had been shot three times around the chest. He was definitely dead. There was blood splashed all over the floor, as a uneasy stench spread across the room. From the corner of my ear, I heard a woman crying and yelling “What happened?”. The sound travelled nearer then I turned around trying to figure out who was it. She had blonde hair with blue unsettling eyes. She wore a white short dress as if she has just been back from a party. Her make-up was scattered across her clear skin. Her skin was white as paper but glowed like the sun. As she came nearer the louder her cry got.

“Please, someone tell me what happened to my...” she paused. Her eyes met with the victim’s green eyes. Her whole slim body began trembling of horror. She let out a big scream. She attempted to run towards the crime scene however the police stopped her before she could go any further. “Sorry ma’am but everyone but the FBI’s and Detectives are restricted from entering.” The policeman told. The fury in the woman’s eyes grew.

“I beg your pardon?” She said in disbelief, “Do you know who I am? I am Selena Carpenter, the sister of Fred Carpenter!”. She mentained yelling at the officer trying to get in. Until Agent Williams spoke up. “Don’t worry, Officer. She can go through. She’s going to be in more grief if she doesn’t see her brother.” The officer stepped aside for Selena to enter. As she went in, her cry commenced again.

“W-what happened here, Agent Williams?” I trembled.

“The victim is Fred Carpenter, who has been murdered in the middle of the Cream’s Cafe.” He explained.

“Anymore useful information, Agent Williams?” I asked.

“Yes. He was shot with a Glock 17 pistol. The killer was disguised in black making it harder to figure out who the killer was. He had the height of ‘six foot man’ stated one of the witnesses.” He inhaled a deep breath and continued. “It was clear that it was planned because the killer knew the waiters would be on their break at 7:20pm and that is the exact time the murder struck.”

“So this was rather an assassination than a murder.” I figured out.

“Indeed.” He agreed.

“But why three times in the chest?” I asked.

“That’s one of the things we can’t figure out, Detective Wilson. And even if we could, the killer is long gone now.”

“What do we do now, Agent Williams?”

“I don’t know. But I know that you are the only detective who can figure out this murder case.”
