She went into the bedroom, no, she ran into the bedroom.
She tries to close the door as quickly but quietly as she can. She hid under her desk that she got for her 10th birthday.
She holds her breath as if it’s a rule she must follow, hoping she wouldn’t make a sound loud enough for him to hear. The door slowly opens.
You can hear the creaking, showing how old it is.
She lets go of her breath quietly, quiet enough that she herself couldn’t even hear it.
Footsteps draw near as you hear the floorboard creak.
“Come out, come out wherever you are.”
He walks to the opposite side of the desk where she was hiding. She held her breath once more, hoping that would keep her from making a sound.
“Hmmm. I guess I have to find you myself.”
The footsteps continued, it sounded like he was right next to her.
He stops at the side of the desk, then moves his head close enough for her to see.
“Boo!”
The girl runs from under the desk, heading straight for the door.
She rushes down the stairs, hearing his footsteps right behind her. Half way down, she trips over her own foot, causing her to tumble down the stairs with a thud.
Not wanting to waste any time, she quickly tries to get up.
As she was about to stand up, she felt a sharp pain in her right ankle.
She had injured herself from her tumble down the stairs, it has already become swollen.
She tries to hop on one foot but since she was bad at keeping her balance, she fell.
But before she could hit the floor, an arm catched and pulled her up. Shortly followed up by a knife to her neck and a hand covering her mouth.
She starts to struggle as tears run down her face, shining brightly from the moonlight that was coming from a nearby window.
She lived alone in a place in the middle of nowhere. Even if she screamed for help, her cries will not be heard.
“I would kill you but... if you can’t run, I won’t be able to chase you. So, i’ll just come back later.”
He moves the knife away from her neck and lets her go, causing her to shift her weight to her injured ankle and fall, hitting the ground this time.
He walks out and closes the door behind him while the girl is on her knees crying. Why did he spare her? Is he really going to come back?
