Chapter 1

All I could see was red. I was tired of being spoken to like I was a poor defenseless female. I was nothing of the sort. I was more of a monster than they realised.

I was not fully human. I was found on the doorstep of very kind people. They took me in and raised me along with their other children. No one knew I was different until I turned sixteen.

Right at this moment I was sitting in a cage. It was large enough for me to move around in. It also had a twin sized bed, a table and one chair. A man sat on my bed. I could smell the fear coming off him in waves.

I never killed humans. How could I kill one after being raised by one? I couldn't believe my brother was the one that had put me in here. The last time he did this, my father almost disowned him. My family had made peace with what I was with the exception of my mom and my little brother. Mom was seeing a specialist dad found.

The man that was in this cage with me, stared at me. He smelled different. More like a dog than human which meant he was a werewolf. He didn't move to try and hit me. I looked over at him and sighed.

He was quite attractive. He was a runner, long, lean and muscular. Yeah he's a wolf. A pretty hot one. We sat and watched each other.

"How is it that you are a shifter but not a wolf. I can smell feline. What are you?" he asked after a while.

"I am a werelion. My name's Leona. What about you, wolfie?" I asked.

"My name is Imere. My friends call me I or mere. You are beautiful. Why have we been caged?" asked Imere.

"My brother is a little nutty. He saw me change when I came of age and has always believed mom and dad should have sent me back to the adoption agency." I said, with a sigh.

This wasn't the first time my brother had tried to kidnap me. I knew he was up to no good this time. Imere was a man who was around my apartment when my brother took me. The prick didn't want any witnesses.

So poor Imere was at the wrong place. There was a bowl with food in it sitting on the table. Another plate had bacon and eggs oñ it. There was an odd smell to the eggs.

Imere smelled it too. He decided to stay wake. We had gotten to know each other pretty well. My brother's minions were just as weird as his was.
