Chapter 1: the beginning

Kiara POV

0

Let's just say I have everything I could ever ask for. From the latest car, to a mansion to live in. Life was glorious until I met him.

It was any other day, I got up, brushed my teeth, washed my face, hopped in the shower, did my hair and makeup.

0

"Good morning Aadya," I said walking into the kitchen once I was done. The house smelled of sizzling bacon, scrambled eggs, home-made waffles, and fresh fruit. When I say Aadya could throw down in the kitchen, I meant throw down.

0

She is my maid and housekeeper. She has been here since my birth, if I wasn't born to my parents aka Mr. CEO Josiah hastings and the supermodel MRS. Andrea Hastings, I would have believed she was my mom. Aadya has to be the kindest, loyalist, and strongest woman I have ever met.

0

At a young age, Aadya lost both her daughter and husband to a drunk driver. Her daughter was only 4 and her husband 27, and her 26. I had meet her daughter, Angelica also known as Angel.

0

Which now that I think about is weird, because now she is actually an angel, but she was also one on earth.

0

Anyway, Aadya always treated me like her daughter but from that day we just got closer. She didn't have a daughter, and I didn't have loving parents. We filled the gap. She made me whole.

0

"Hello, Hello," Aadya said waving her hand in front of my face. I guess, I zoned out.

0

"Oh sorry, what were you saying"

0

"I asked how did sleep? But anyway, what has you all zoned out? A man perhaps." She practically squeals my eardrums out. I love her, so I can't complain.

0

"No, I was just thinking about how you were there from day one and how strong you are. You're my inspiration and role model. You taught that an 'A simple I love you means more than money' thank you." I will forever be grateful to Aadya for being the best replacement mom.

0

"Awww thanks, sweetie. Now eat your breakfast your going job hunting today better not go out on an empty stomach." I did as I was told, and ate my breakfast.

0

I am 22 I just got out of college. I majored in business because my dad is a CEO, but I'm not taking over the company, my brother Xavion.

0

He is 10 months older than me, yet he loves to gloat about how much older he is. Even in high school was such a buzzkill I couldn't even talk to a guy without him butting in, and was 17 at the time. Either way, I love him, he drives me bat crazy but I love him. In fact, we are so close to makes no sense. We both have a common love of basketball.

0

Anyway, I have decided that I would branch away and start a little by little in the business world, so I'm going to a job interview with this CEO who owns a bunch la hotels and restaurants, he is supposedly very rich. Then, after that, I either continue working in that company or start my own, only time will tell.

0

I went up to my room and changed out of my pajamas. I put on a black pencil skirt, a white button-up shirt, a black business jacket, and my black pumps.

0

I leave the house and drive to downtown Seattle, where Baker Inc. stands. I got to the front secretary.

0

"Hello I'm Kiara Hastings, and I'm here for my Job interview with Mr. Baker."

0

"Mhmm, I see. Take the elevator to floor 47" She states without even looking up from the computer, but when she does she states "Excuse my manners, I'm Alice. I hope you get the job Kiara you seem nice"

0

"Thanks," I say, and then I get on the elevator and think, Why 47? Many people get on the elevator, but I pay them no mind. I just hurry up and get to the 47th floor.

0

When I get there, I see another I tell her the same thing I told Alice, and she directed me to Mr. Baker's office.

0

After about 5 minutes he walks in, and I am awestruck. He is so handsome. He has a black hair to my ombre brown. Icy and cold blue eyes to my cool blue eyes. A chiseled jawline to my slightly chubby jawline. He is wearing Black slacks, a red button-up shirt, a black button-up vest on top, and a black suit jacket. He also has a red handkerchief in the pocket on his jacket. He looked so gorgeous. Like DAMN. My eyes went like the cartoons when they see something fine and their eyes just jump out of their head.

0

Two things crossed my mind at that moment. One. He is so young, and two damn he is fine. And then he opened his damn mouth, and all my previous thoughts flew away. "You can stop staring. Quite frankly, gawking at me will not get you a job. So please act professional and control your hormones we all are adults here." even his voice was sexy, but he is a douche.

0

My mouth fell open. I thought I was a dream for a minute, such a heavenly body and voice, couldn't come to say such a mean and cold thing. I was about to say something sarcastic and rude too, but then I realized that it could be the reason I get the job or not. So I shut my mouth and instead said "I apologize, sir, I am Kiara Hastings, and you are?"

0

"I am Cayden Baker or as known to you Mr. Baker, the CEO of this very building." We shook hands and we went about our interview. Besides, my staring session everything went pretty well in my opinion. The whole time he had a scowl on his face. I was told I would get a call telling me if I got the job or not in a week.

0

A week passed by very quickly. Now I was sitting with my phone in my hand waiting for the call.

0

"Dear you can stop waiting by the phone, and come eat some lunch." Aadya shouting from the kitchen. I smiled, she really knew how to make me feel stupid, but loved. Who waits with their phone for a call by their job.

0

"Here I come," I went, and sat at the kitchen Island. Aadya ate with me on the island. We talked and chatted. She already knows about Mr. Baker. We got done eating, and I dried the dishes and she washed. During this time, my phone decided to ring. Like really while my hands are wet, you decided to ring. I dry my hands and answer the call. I talk for 5-10 minutes.

0

When I hang up, I squeal so loud. "Aadya I got the job!"

0

I was so happy. I feel like it was more than about because I got the job but because of something else or someone else.
