Chapter 1

Bismillahirahmaniraheem

Short Story!

Another short story? Yup! But this ones a little different. Ma loyal readers without further a do dig in. Yenjoooy! And remember no stealing of content 🗡🤗 (if you still do then I’ll personally make sure you won’t be able to walk on the face of this earth 😄)

How can people be cruel enough to kill someone? When two people love each other why can’t the damn director give the damn movie a happy ending? Yes, aaj mein ne Titanic dekh kar iss dunya pe ahsaan kya. And that’s why I am sitting on my terrace munching on my 26th orange. Why couldn’t the director just let Jack live? GAAH!

Bichara orange jo mere mouh me hai wo bhi mujhe kous raha hoga itti zoor se katterne k liye. Par mein kya karoun khottey director pe bada ghussa aa raha hai kasam se. Laanat ho wo Rose pe aur wo Jack pe aur wo kamine director pe.

Meanwhile those orange peels landed right on Aqib’s head while he tried to have a decent conversation with Muzammil sitting right under the terrace in their lush green lawn.

“Ab meine iss be-adab insaan ka qatal kar dena hai banda jabs- *bang* BUS!” Aqib rose from his sitting position when a wet orange seed landed right on his forehead while he was glaring at the flying orange peels from above.

Muzammil let out a nervous laugh knowing very well who the owner of that horrendous act was. He held a furious Aqib’s arm trying to make him sit but boy, the man was beyond furious to sit down “Chod de na yaar bichare k peeche kyoun padha hai?”

“Mein peeche padha houn? Wo banda pichle 20 mint se mere sar pe chilke maare jaa raha hai, maare jaa raha hai! Meine issko to nai chodh na aaj” Pulling his arm angrily away from Muzammil’s hold Aqib marched upstairs searching for weapons to kill that person with on his way.

“Kya kardiya Jannat to ne? Ufff!” Muzammil ran behind his furious friend “Aqib, rukh jaa bey wo hatoode se murderer benega bey to?”

“Ye banda to gaya, koun itna santra khaata hai yaar? Santre khaa khaa k marna hai kya iss insan ko?” Aqib muttered to himself climbing two stairs at a time absolutely muting Muzammil’s pants and pleas behind him. Just when he was about to pull the terrace door open, the door on it’s on accord jolt open revealing a beauty with red dupatta draped over her head disclosing few dark hazel strands. Her big bright turquoise eyes stared back at steel blue ones. Her milky white cheeks bulged out from either sides due to the extensive amount of oranges she stuffed in. Orange juice trailed down from the corner of her mouth to her messy plain white salwar suit.

“TUM!” Both of them furiously pointed at each other as soon as realization kicked in.

“Tum thi wo jo mere sar pe santre k chilke maari jaa rahi thi?”

“Santre? Kounse santre bhai?” Jannat placed her right fist on her hip while wiping the orange juice from the corner of her mouth with the back of her left hand. All the while trying to swallow those last oranges in her mouth.

Aqib sneered seeing her messy, stained face “Ye santre aur kounse?” He pointedly shoved his hand around her dirty face.

Jannat moved her face back as a reflex action fearing that he might accidentally touch her. Her tiny nose flared in anger at the young lad’s outrageous act as well as the accusation “Abbe oye! Haath sambhal kar!” She hotly retorted glaring at his hand which fell to his side.

Aqib rose his perfect brow at the young lady’s dare “Pehle tum apna hooliya to theek kar lo gundhi aurat. Aur tumhe santra khaana nai aata? Huh? Pichle 20 mint se mere sar pe santre maare jaa rahi thi!”

“Kahan, dikha na.” She stood on her tippy toes inspecting his perfectly styled light brown hair searching for any injury. Seeing no sign of injury she returned to her initial position crossing her arms over her chest with a scowl “Bata to aise rahe ho jaise meine sar he phood diya tumahara. Do, chaar chilke he to the itna bhadak ne ki kya zaroorat hai. Hein?”

“Do, teen?” Aqib’s anger hit the roof while he stressed on each word “Ginti nai aati kya tumhe? Kounsi class tak padhi ho haan? Ye chilke k saath ye jo free beenj tumne jo mujh par thooke hain uska kya?” He lifted the seed that he fisted while storming up to the terrace.

“Ooth teri” Jannat cursed under her breath biting her tongue between her lips seeing the orange seed in Aqib’s hold. The handsome lad smirked seeing that he won this fight. Jannat quickly masked her slip and straightened herself, clearing her throat as she gave the seed a weavering look. “Maine khair se BBA kya hai bhai, mehnat se padhi hoon yoon hi metric pass nai-“

“AQIB!!!! KITNA TEAZ BHAAG TA HAI BEY TO, KAMBAKHT MERE TAANGEY TOOTH GAYI!! MERI TO *pant* jaan nika- *pant* nikal gayi!” Muzammil finally reached the top. Bending down he desperately tried to catch his breath. Both the hot heads turned to look at a Muzammil fighting for his life.

“Huh? Sirf do floor mein Teri jaan nikal gayi abey khottey?” Aqib gave his best buddy a incredulous look. Finally after complete 7 1/2 minutes Muzammil rose to his full height grinning goofily making the latter shake their heads at his hopeless self.

“Thodi to izzat rakhlo apni Muzammil, at least apne bacchoun k liye hein. Do bacchoun k baap nahi balke Pakistan ki poori awaam k par dada lag rahe ho tum.” Jannat shook her head dejectedly making Aqib snap his head at her hearing the insult of his best buddy “Oye! Sambhal k, mera dost hai wo. Zubaan ko tham k istemaal karo bibi.”

Jannat narrowed her turquoise eyes placing her fists on her hips “OYE! Bada bhai hai wo mera. Mein jo chaahoun kahoun usse, tumhe isse kya?”

“Ok, Ok. Times up you two.” Muzammil squeezed himself between the two angry birds who were throwing daggers at each other. Poor Muzammil had to risk his precious life to stop world war III outbreak. This surely will be recorded somewhere.

Jannat stomped her foot in pure annoyance and brushed past the two giant men. Stepping on the first stair she couldn’t help but shot over her shoulder “Muzammil, apne dost se kehna ki apni shakal mujhe dubaara na dikhaiye.” She fully turned around and graced equally riled Aqib with her menacing gaze “Warna mouh nooch lungi iska.”

“Teri toh!” Aqib was about to pounce but luckily Muzammil caught his waist trying to hold the bouncing man in place.

“Jaldi bhaag Jannat iss se Pehle ye banda mere haath se bhaag jaye.” Muzammil muttered with great difficulty tightening his hold on a infuriated Aqib.

“Muzammil, chodh bey!” Aqib flailed his arms and legs trying to get out of his friends deadly hold.

“Agar mein tujhe chod dunga to meri bahen ki shaadi mein kaise naachunga? Bicchari mar jaaiyegi aaj”

Sticking her tongue at a confused Aqib, Jannat dashed down to the safety of her house and hopped to the kitchen where her cute Ammi was busy stirring in the aromatic khorma.

“Thodi mohabbat iss na cheez ko bhi de dein, itni mohabbat se khorma mein hila rahein hein.” Jannat snaked her arms around her Ammi’s round belly resting her chin on her shoulder.

Batool smiled softly patting her lovely daughters cheek “Ye khorma ka bhala kya muqabala meri beti ki mohabbat se?” Jannat grinned triumphantly at the remark. Dropping a sloppy kiss on her Ammi’s chubby cheek she pulled away “Ye cheez mere azeez!”

“Phuppo Jaan!” All of a sudden Jannat felt a tug at her salwar. Her gaze dropped to the adorable 5 yr old Aqsa holding her book to her chest.

“Haye! Phappu ki Jaan, kya hua?” She immediately pulled the girl in her arms striding out of the kitchen only to enter the living room.

“Phuppo Jaan, mujhe ye problem samajh nai aari! Aap baataein na humesha ki tarah!” Aqsa pointed to the math problem she was stuck at. Kissing her rosy cheek Jannat placed the girl down and settled beside her “Ye lo itni si Baath? Abhi solve kar detein hai bhai aapka problem. Lao Idhar.” Aqsa happily placed her math book in Jannat’s welcoming hands. Both the girls sat engrossed in solving the tough problem not realizing Muzammil’s entrance.

A worn out Muzammil plopped on the sofa with a loud thud grabbing the two kids attention. Pressing the bridge of his nose he spoke in a tired voice “Yaar Jannat, Aqib k saamne aagli dafa mat aana. Khuda ka waasta! Aaj tum marti marti bachi ho. Pata hai?” He nothing but exclaimed the last part sitting upright.

Drawing her lips into thin line Jannat returned to the problem that they had been solving making her big bro’s jaw drop “Mein kuch keh Rahan hoon oye behri!”

“Shukar karo tumhara wo lafanga dost zinda bach gaya aaj warna meine to aaj aisi phainti lagani thi ki yaad rakhta wo nikamma!” Jannat replied nonchalant, her gaze not leaving the book while baby Aqsa looked confused between her dad and Phuppu.

Muzammil laid back on the sofa and sighed “Lafanga nai hai wo! Bicchara aaj apni shaadi ka card dene aaya tha. Wo to ghar mein bhi nai aaya taaki galti se bhi tumahri shakal na dekh le.” He snickered but quickly covered it with a cough hearing his little sister growl “Khush ho jao bande ki shaadi ho rahi hai abb na aae ga wo nikamma yahan utna frequently.” He turned to his side and rested his head on the heel of his palm facing his sister and daughter.

“Hmph! Jahannam mein jaae meri bala se. Bichari ladki jisse uski shaadi ho rahi hai. Mujhe to abhi se uss pe taras aa raha hai.” Jannat made a pitiful face while her elder brother rose his brows in amusement.

“Baba!!” Aqsa lost interest in solving the math problem and ran to her dad who spread his arms wide and engulfed the little girl in his fatherly arms.

“Haye, mera baccha!” He kissed her head lovingly. Jannat gave the father-daughter a dreamy look and send a prayer above to always protect them.

“JJJAANNAAATTTTT!!! Kahan ho tum? Tumhara phone kitni dare se baj raha hai!! Mera Waqas uth gaya tumhari iss desi ringtone se.” Salma, Jannat’s bhabi yelled from somewhere in the huge house.

“Oopsie! YAHAN BHABI! LIVING ROOM MEIN!!” Jannat yelled back making her furious bhabi appear in a second holding a crying Waqas in her arms and her blasting phone in other hand.

’Hud Hud Dabangg Dabangg Dabangg Dabangg

Hud Hud Dabangg Dabangg Dabangg Dabangg’- her ringtone

“Aaj to Aqsa ki Phuppo Jaan kaam se gayi.” Muzammil sang palying with Aqsa who sat comfortably on her dads stomach.

Muzammil ki toh! Chaddo! Pehle phone lele Jannat warna tu to pakka gayi aaj. She sheepishly got up and walked to her furious bhabi who clutched the blasting phone tightly.

“Sorrybhabinexttimemeincarefulrahungi.” She rapped, kissing a wailing Waqas’s mucky face she quickly snatched the phone from Salma’s hold and dashed to her room.

“Sabr karle phone bhai jabse bina break k baja jaa raha hai!” She chided the lifeless phone while hurriedly unlocking her bedroom door. Once inside, she locked it in place and quickly plopped on her bed simultaneously answering her best friends call.

“Yaar Jannat kabse call kar rahihun mein!! Agr tum abhi nai utha thi na phone, mein he aane waali thi tumhare ghar tumhe do chamnat lagaane, kasam se. Tumhe pata bhi hai mere ghar mein kya hoo raha hai? Mera to heart fail hone wala hai bhai! Sab mere khilaaf saazish kar rahein hai yaar!!!” Her childhood sweetheart also her next door neighbor Farha ranted endlessly making Jannat giggle.

“Tum hasn rahi ho? Kaisi dost ho yaar tum!? Mein yahan zindagi aur mout se ladh rahi hoon aur tum HASN rahi ho? Laanat ho yaar aisi dosti par!”

Hugging her pillow, Jannat plopped on the bed on her stomach “Kya hua meri jaan kiski shaamat aagayi ab? Kisne apna death certificate sign kar wa liye tumhe ghussa dila kar?”

“Meri Ammi, Abbu ne aur kisne?!” Farha cried on the other side making Jannat pout. She could sense something was wrong, sitting up straight Jannat tugged the strand of her hair behind her ear “Kya hua Farha?”

“Yaar mere Ammi,Abbu meri SHAADI kara rahein hai!!!”

“KKKKYYYYYAAAAAAAA!!!” Jannat shrieked jumping on her bed in pure joy.

“Mein behri hoo jaoungi aaj. Pakka!”

“Chup kar bey! Mein abhi aa rahi hoon tumhare ghar” Jannat chirped excitedly and cut the call before Farha could reply.

Hopping off the bed she sprinted to the door passing by the huge mirror placed in her room glancing at her reflection from her perplex view. She halted and walked backwards to stop right in front of the mirror. Her white suit had orange trails all over it, her red duppatta was barely in place hanging on one single pin connected to her shoulder. Let’s not get to the face.

“Haye Allah! Aisi lanty shakal leke jaaoun mein Farha k ghar? Tauba hai Jannat.” Smacking her head she rummaged through her closet. When her hand touched a plain yellow salwar suit a smile tugged her lips while she traced the dress with her fingers remembering a certain someone who loves the color yellow.

“Chal Jannat, yahi pahen le isse Pehle mein uski yaad mein kahin mar he na jaaoun. *GASP* Tauba, Tauba! Allah Miyan Ji meri lambi ummar rakhna hein. Please!” She looked up at the roof sending her prayer. Grabbing a plain violet dupatta she quickly changed into her dress not before washing her face thoroughly to get the sticky orange stains off. Draping her violet dupatta over her head she rushed to her friends house screaming over her shoulder

“AMMI MEIN FARHA K GHAR JAA RAHIN HOON!”

In two minutes she was standing in front of her friends main door nervously fidgeting with her dupatta.

“Agar unho ne darwaaza khool diya to mein kya karoun?” She bit her index finger between her lips nervously thinking about the odds. Giving up on her index finger she looked at the door with a new resolute “Chaddo! Khool te hein to khool dein, meino ki” with that she bravely knocked thrice. In no time the door flung open revealing the person whom she dreaded to see.

“Jannat” he breathed in his deep manly voice, absolutely lost seeing the person before him. Jannat’s heart beat quickened only by hearing her name from him. Her eyes unintentionally trailed over his neatly sideways parted black hair to those hypnotic marble gray eyes, his sharp jaw jis pe har kounwaari kudi marti hai. The neatly trimmed stubble to those hidden dints which surfaced every time he spoke. Aur wo qayatmat wala kala Kurta-Pajama. Jannat tu to gayi aaj.

“Kaif “ Jannat found it extremely hard to remove her gaze from him and so was the case for the latter.

Yaar hataa lein apni nazar mujhse nai hoora she thought to herself. As if he heard her silent plea Kaif immediately dropped his gaze and cleared his throat all the while scratching the back of his neck.

“Oye Hoye!! Kya scene chal raha hai yahan bhai? Abhi se he haan? Thoda Sabr karlo mere Heer Ranjha, tum log ki bhi shaadi zaroor hogi.” Farhan, Farha’s twin brother poked his head from under Kaif’s arm wiggling his brows making Jannat squirm in her place and dash inside once Kaif was able to pull that huge leech aka Farhan out of the way.

Seeing no sign of Jannat, Kaif turned to his dimwit brother. After giving a thonga on the poor boy Kaif crossed his arms across his broad chest in a intimidating manner making Farhan’s hazel-brown eyes dilate in fear. His elder brother took a threatening step completely cornering the poor boy.

“Wo kya tha abhi Farhan?” His deep manly voice rung warning bells in Farhan’s mind making him laugh nervously “Kuch bhi to nai bhai, meine to bus obvious baath bataee. Aap aur Jannat bhabi ki to bacchpan se he setting hui wi hai. Haan wo alag baath hai ki engagement wagairah nai hui magar poore muhalle ko pata hai ki Jannat sirf Kaif ki hai. Farha k baad aapka he to number hai hein” Farhan from being scaredy cat transformed to a smirking brat making his brother bite back a smile at his last remark.

“Aur waise bhi..” he cleverly slipped from the corner taking Kaif’s dazed form and sighed in relief in being freed from his brothers cage. Kaif turned around confused seeing how his lil brother escaped.

“Waise bhi kya?” Kaif cocked his brow tiny bit curious to know some info. Farhan smirked and leaned forward as if discussing a top secret “Peele rang mein badi he pyaari lag rahi thi na bhabi?” Kaif’s grey eyes on its own swayed to the place where Jannat ran from blushing a moment ago.

“Kasam se bahout pyaari lag rahi thi .”Kaif mumbled ruffling his jet black hair with a charming smile realizing that just one look at her and he’s become a latto miyan.

During the sprinting Jannat bumped into a stout women, none other than Jahannara- Farha’s pyaari ammi!

“Haye Allah! Jannat ki bacchi, saans chada di meri itni zoor ka jhatka de kar.” Jahannara placed her hand over her racing heart taking deep breaths to calm herself down.

Jannat grinned sheepishly and placed yet another sloppy kiss on the cute women’s cheek receiving a defeated look in return. Jahannara sighed, holding Jannat’s delicate wrist she dragged her to the huge living room where Farhan sat in front of the 60 inch TV screaming incoherent words at his friends on his headphones. Giving her son a hopeless look Jahannara made a confused Jannat sit beside her.

“Chaddo Khala, meine baath nai karni aapse. Farha ki shaadi pakki hogayi aur hum naacheez ko kaan-o-kaan qabar na hui.” Jannat got her hand out of her Khala’s hold and turned her back with a pout.

“Haye meri bacchi, apni khala ki baath to sun lo.” Jahannara tried to make a reluctant Jannat turn but that woman was adamant on staying angry. Sighing, Jahannara stood and instead sat in front of the cute beauty. “Sorry?” Khala tried to give a cute smile but rather it turned into a horrible sneer making Jannat burst a gut.

“Meri pyaari Khala.” Jannat cupped her khala’s face and placed a loving kiss on her forehead making the old women crack a triumphed smile. Getting comfortable on the couch Jannat paid at most attention to the info that was yet to be revealed.

Jahannara inhaled deeply and gazed at Jannat solemnly “Farha k sasural wale bade he mohabbati log hai. Abhi jumeraat ko he wo Farha ko pasand kar k gaye ki kal he aakar date bhi fix hogayi aur card bhi chap gaye uski shaadi ka. Munda bada he handsome hai by god. Usne Mphil kya hai Biotechnology mein bada he sahi Munda hai vaise. Uski ek badi bahen bhi hai jiski shaadi hogayi aur tum log ki Umar ka ek chota bhai bhi hai. Bahout izzat wale log hai Alhamdulilah. Munde ka naam A-“

“Naam waam ko goli maaro. Ye bataiye Farha khush hai?” Jannat curiously interjected. Sadness loomed over Jahannara’s lively face as she lowered her gaze.

“Farha ko jabse shaadi ka card bataya hai tabse wo apne kamre mein band hai. Bahar he nai aari.”

“Fikr not Khala ji! When Jannat is here there is nothing to fear!” Jannat puffed her chest in pride patting her khala’s shoulder in a reassuring way. All of a sudden Jahannara’s eyes welled making Jannat frown. She lovingly caressed her cheek “Mar Jaaneya, kitni soni hai to. Allah meri bacchi ki umar daraaz karre. Meri ek nai do kuddiyan hai. Ek Farha aur dusri tum.”She kissed Jannat’s forehead making a beautiful smile tug her lips.

“Ab mein apni bahen ko set kardoun?” She joked making Jahannara nod . She happily skipped out the living room, just when she was about to step on the first stair she heard a familiar deep yet sincere voice “Shukriya, Jannat.”

She stepped down and turned to her side only to come face to face with Kaif who was leaning on the wall with his arms crossed and gaze down casted. Jannat looked at him confused.

“Kis liye?”

“Farha to sambhal ne k liye.”

She let out a hearty chuckle pulling the strings at Kaif’s heart which he was trying to control with all his might.

“Kaif Sahab, family k beech itna to chalta hai. Aap shukriya keh kar humein sharminda na kariye.” She spoke in a shy tone and rushed upstairs leaving a befuddled Kaif behind. Her simplicity was her biggest attraction. And that’s why Kaif to diwaana hogaya Jannat ka.

“Khool de meesani aur kitna teh raiegi iss masoom jaan ko bahar?” Jannat has been banging Farha’s door for exact THREE MINUTES but that woman ignored her like a ghost.

“MASOOM JAAN? Kahan se lagti ho tum masoom jaan huh? Chale jao wapas meine kisi se baath nai karni. Saare k saare mile hue hai, mujhe pata hai.” Came Farha’s sassy comeback.

Jannat sighed and banged her head on the door. Instantly her turquoise eyes widened and glinted with mischievousness “Theek hai mein to chale jaoungi magar wo jo ammi tumahre liye besan k laddu bheje the wo bhi saath leke jaa rahi hoon haan”

In no time the door burst open revealing a zombie with messy brown hair, droopy hazel-brown eyes and the wrinkled Batman PJ. Jannat smirked and brushed past her best friend and plopped herself on the unmade bed as if she owned the room. Farha shut the door with a loud bang and glared furiously at her nonchalant friend.

“Kahan hai mere besan k laddu?

Jannat patted her flat stomach “Yahan.” Seeing her friend turn red due to anger Jannat fell on the floor laughing, constantly slapping the floor while Farha huffed and sat on the bed not before intentionally stomping her foot on Jannat’s hand on the floor, her yelp calmed Farha’s anger by a notch. After laughing for good 15 minutes Jannat was back to normal and pounced on her best friend squealing.

“AAAAHHHHH MERI JAAN KI SHAADI HO RAHI HAI!! YAAR MUJHE YAKEEN NAI HORA KI FARHA SIDDIQUE KI SHAADI HO RAHI HAI!!” She pulled away and dropped sloppy kisses on either side of her shocked friends cheek “Yaar mein to khushi se pagal ho rahi hoon.” She shook Farha abnormally making the girl feel frizzy but did Jannat care? Nope.

“Haye O Rabba, meine tumahri shaadi k liye lehenga Lena hoga aur choodiyan aur jootiyan aur…” Jannat ranted endlessly failing to notice the unease on her best friends face. Little did they knew that this Shaadi was going to change history.
