Chapter 1: First Glance
Fuck. I told Thomas I didn't need an assistant but of course he had to put an ad up anyways. So here I am now looking through resumés. This girl needs to be perfect. She needs to be completely on her game. One file catches my eye. Her name is Chloe and she is 20 years old. She went to a 6 month college course and is a writer. Nothing too special at all but for some reason I know she's the perfect match. I call Thomas and tell him I have chosen.
"I want Chloe."
"Yes. I hand picked that one. She had applied before but right now is a home nanny. I figured she would catch your eye."
" Shut up you asshole. She IS pretty I guess."
"Yep, now call her and tell her she got the job."
"Fuck you."
I end the call with a loud click. I hate my coworker and best friend so much sometimes. He can be majorly pushy. Hopefully Chloe isn't some fangirl and is madly obsessed with me. I type in the number off of her file. It rings once, twice, three times, before a beautiful voice answers.
"Hello?"
I clear my throat and try to process the melodious voice I just heard.
"Hello. Is this Chloe Smith? This is Dylan O'Brien and I see you applied to be my assistant?"
"Oh. Yeah this is Chloe but I applied to be Thomas's assistant. Sorry."
She sounded so confused but her voice was so pretty I moved past the confusion.
" Well you got the job if you're interested. The pay is higher than Thomas was offering and you travel with me. No offices while on set. Instead you would get my breakfast, lunch and dinner. You would also help with other extra things."
"Like what."
The way she said was like a statement. Not a question. She was really testing my patience and for some reason it made me want to hire her more.
"Like going to get my coffee or even my next wardrobe change." I laugh like I'm joking but those are actual paying jobs I already have people for. I hear her smirk through the phone.
"Ok. I'll be at the set on Tuesday. See you then. Also may I ask, what's your coffee order?"
I laugh and say, " Be there by 5:30 AM."
With a click the phone hangs up and my jaw drops. The very first girl since I became rich and famous just hung up on me like it was nothing. Not even a bye. Just click.
