The story has outdated views and ideas
"I didn’t make it very far into the story when I realized how narrow the views are of the characters in the story and hope they are not a reflection of the author’s beliefs. The idea that everyone has to work and that it is alright to allow a city of people to die if it is for what they believe to be the greater good are so in line with what nazis believed and how they justified killing off disabled people as well as anyone they believed were defective. The main character gets praised for helping to pick apples but when the woman at the first inn goes out of her way to help the main character she doesn’t even thank her, remind me how she is a good person again…"
