Chapter 1
Angela POV
Angela, with soft eyes and a gentle smile, looked over the man she was betrothed to. He looked nothing like how humans describe demons. Yet, his aura is filled with intense dominance that makes her skin crawl. His steel-gray eyes look at her with disgust. She lowers her gaze. Even if she accepts the proposal, he still hates her kind.
Council member, Justice, presides over this gathering. While he stands on neither side of the Kingdom, he understands his role very well. Both kingdoms have a long history of war and betrayal. Even if Diabolus marries her, there is no assurance whether the conflict will stop. However, desperate times need drastic measures. A mystical creature, named Slayer, has created havoc and chaos. No one knows his identity, how he looks like, and those who have met him are now ashes. That’s for the ones that got discovered! An enemy with no face that can kill angels and demons is, indeed, dangerous.
Justice clears his throat as he speaks: “As we all know, both kingdoms and councils are under a threat of this unknown entity. Cooperation and trust are vital to catch this menace. The only way we can do this is by setting aside our differences. For that very purpose, Royal Princess Angela and Royal Prince Diabolus will be wedded, today. However, before that, both of you must create a blood pact.”
Diabolus lifts his eyebrows as he hears Justice. “A blood pact. With this woman? No offense, but she is too fragile and will weigh me down.”
“No! My daughter will not go with you unless you create a blood pact. You can kill her and feed off her energy to gain strength. We are no fools! She will be bound by a blood pact.”
“Fine! Do whatever you want, but remember, she will never step outside my castle.”
Angela’s gaze lowered as she heard him. She wanted to protest, but it seems pointless. Soon, the blood was drawn from her veins, creating a pact. Their lives are now glued together.
After the ceremony, Angela bids farewell to her family. Despite the blood pact, her kingdom is scared for her safety. She looks over at her husband, who paid no heed to her misery. Sighing, she walks towards him, and he teleports them in front of a beautiful castle. While she looks around, observing her surroundings, Diabolus yanks her arm and takes her inside the castle.
Unlike her, he takes Slayer very seriously. By the looks of it, he had no interest in her nor her antics. But, due to blood-pact, he has no choice either.
Diabolus POV
Despite her age, she looks like a five-year-old human with zero clues about this crisis. As if Slayer wasn’t enough, he has now to look behind this woman.
“Angela, I will not repeat myself, so listen carefully. I have a lot of responsibilities to shoulder, and unlike you, I have to deal with real issues. My people are dying and I need to catch this mince. Our arrangement is made to create trust between Angels and Demons. After Slayer is caught and executed, I will remove the pact, and you are, then, free to leave. Until then, heed to my words: do not go outside this castle. I have provided everything you need to sustain and do not create any nuisance. I cannot spare my precious time over you and your childish antics.”
Angela POV
Angela flinched as Diabolus spoke each and every word. He hated her kind, there was no doubt. She looked at him, deep into his eyes, and nodded. Satisfied with her answer, he closes the castle door and leaves. Her eyes begin to water as she is stuck inside this hollow castle. It is beautiful but bleak, as dark as her fate. No matter what she does, it remains empty.
Third POV
As Angela continues to sleep after hours of crying, someone looks at her with curiosity. While Diabolus is out on a hunt, his minions notice a new member. They start murmuring in the castle.
“Did you see the new guest?”
“Yes, I cannot believe he would let an angel inside.”
“Her smell is revolting.”
“How long till she sleeps?”
“Who cares? I heard Master, and it looks like it is just a temporary arrangement till they catch the Slayer.”
“I knew it. I could never imagine living with her here, forever.”
“When will the Master return?”
“He said he will be back after a week or more.”
“This is exciting. We can play with her as long as we want.”
“Are you sure? She is weak, but she is still an angel.”
“Well, we can be sneaky.”
“You are such a mince. Let’s welcome her.”
Soon, it was midnight. Angela woke up and decided to eat. Unlike this castle, the lights at her palace were on. Her home was lively, even at night. With a beautiful fountain in between, she would often make water dance at the tip of her fingers. But this place is covered with darkness. No candles, no chandelier, no sparkling stars. Diabolus has covered all windows and the balcony.
Soon, she hears a voice, more like a whisper. She is excited to meet someone new, after all, who likes being lonely? A beautiful woman walks up to her. Her smile is captivating and her aura is soothing. That surprised Angela as she always thought his Kingdom is filled with evil and troublesome creatures. But before she could greet her, her claws grab her neck. Now, she wasn’t looking as beautiful, rather she looked deadly. Her eyes, like Diabolus, remain harsh and distant.
“Welcome Angela”
It was not a warm or friendly greeting.
