Prologue
Martha P.O.V
What happened that day centuries ago was awful. When blinded by rage and revenge, people make decisions that they regret later due to the damage it caused. Something like that happened to my daughter Olivia. In the fit of losing the love of her life to a werewolf by accident, she cursed not just him but his future bloodline with the same loss, to be mateless. He'll fall in love with someone, but she'll creep away from him. His every pup and grand pups were doomed to this curse.
Centuries have passed, but the curse still doomed the Livian bloodline ( named after the witch who cursed them), nearly wiping them out. As the days passed by, the severity of the curse increased; it was fatal for women in this bloodline cause, in most cases, their pups were stillborn's, which later led them to depression and later to their death.
Everyone has the right to decide a punishment for a culprit but not an innocent soul, but that's what Olivia did that awful night. She cursed not only him but his entire future bloodline. Years have passed; she should have forgiven them; cause now she is living peacefully with her soulmate, forgetting about the curse. If a soul is deprived of happiness without any valid reason, nature will restore justice. And here, she stole from not one soul but hundreds from their reasonable satisfaction. And nature will deliver justice to the victim.
Only witches can curse someone. But sometimes, when a pure soul is torched and haunted because of your deed, then nature gives them a choice to punish them as they seem fit. But if they don't, then nature itself will deliver their retribution. And Olivia is one of those witches who exceeded in delivering her verdict to the Livian bloodline. If she doesn't retrieve it back within a few months, then nature will intervene, but to retrieve the curse that has been prevailed for centuries within months is deadly for the witch.
I should have been more careful, looked into this situation long ago, and tried to reason with her. But everything happens for a reason, I guess. Don't know what future waits and what nature decides as her punishment causes the last living member of Livian bloodline, Livia is one of those pure souls who don't know or like to take an act of revenge on anyone. She only knows to love and craves to be loved. Therefore nature itself will intervene this time. I hope history won't repeat itself and everything ends well with everyone being happy. But alas, this is life, not a fairy tale, where everything is not happily ever after.
It looks like nature chose tit-for-tat as its sentence for Olivia through her most precious ones, her children. And for a mother, what is more, important than her children. It all started 20 years ago along with her daughter, it was a slow process, gradually increasing with years, and a few months ago, the severity increased exponentially. Ryder, Moonlight Stone pack's Alpha and Olivia's firstborn, was waiting to meet his mate for a very long time, and finally, along with his younger sister, they met their mate a few months ago. But the happiness was short-lived cause they both lost their respective mates to a brutal rouge attack.
It was a total disaster. Since the Alpha and the pack lost their Luna but being the Alpha he should be, he didn't show it to anyone. But he became distant and cold to everyone except his little sister Crystal since she also endured the same fate as him. And the only thing that was a beckon of hope was Crystal and Luke's unborn pup. Losing her mate has cost a lot of toll on Crystal, but still, it shouldn't be this complicated. That's when Olivia reached me to figure out the reason, and I was shocked to death when I looked into it. Cause my sweet innocent grand-pups are sharing the same fate as Livian Bloodline due to their mother's fault.
"Mum, did you finally figure out what the problem is. My baby girl is due on any day, and I'm scared,", Olivia my daughter, asks me worriedly. She is a curled-haired redhead with green eyes and tanned skin, 5′7 in height with curves in all the right places. She is just the replica of me, and so is her daughter Crystal about whom we're talking right now. Olivia, along with her mate Justin (ex-Alpha), her son Ryder (Alpha), and Caleb (his Beta), are patiently waiting for me to explain what is happening to an unconscious Crystal. I asked Ryder to come forward to check him, which led to holding my breath.
"You of all people should have figured it out by now, Olli; after all, you're a witch ", I replied dejectedly after releasing a long sign.
"What do you mean, mum, I checked everything in her body, but I couldn't figure out what was causing her this sick. And why are you checking Ryder? He is perfectly healthy!!!" she replies. Since she raised her voice, she successfully awoke Crystal.
"Did you check her soul???" pin-drop silence was followed by my question. By now, everyone had figured out that she was cursed. Crystal was the first one to break the silence. "Is that why you checked Ryder also? Do you think he is also affected? "she asks slowly. I could only nod to both questions. "It was the sole reason you both lost your respective mates also", I added solemnly. "Who dares to curse MY BABIES?" roars out my over-protective son-in-law, Justin.
It was Ryder's ragged breathing that brought everyone from their thoughts. He was losing control over his beast rapidly." Whoever is responsible for this won't be living too long peacefully, and that's a promise. I'll avenge my Crystal's misfortunes and my Pearl's death "he started it in a roar but ended in a whimper. Everyone in the room agreed with him, but I wondered for how long. "Gran, please tell us who is so evil that they're responsible for this cruel joke", he demands.
"Olli, why don't you do it, since now you know what you are looking for?? "I ask her in a low voice. Olli, my brave daughter, came forward and held her daughter's hand; as the time flowed by, her distress could be seen and not able to contain her grief, she started sobbing hysterically. "Mum, what's the matter? Why are you crying?" Crystal softly asks. "It's me; I'm responsible for my babies horrific state." There was a pregnant pause after that. Everyone except me was surprised by Olli's statement.
"Mum, what do you mean by that? We're your babies; you will never hurt us !" Crystal softly tries to reassure her mother.
"Yes, dear, what our baby girl is trying to say is correct. You'll never hurt them intentionally; you're so protective of them. Hell, you're so over-protective of them that you once were willing to burn me alive, your beloved mate, cause I was at fault that they were playing with fire. Till to this day, I can't see how I'm responsible for their actions". Whenever Justin brought up this topic, Olli always defended her pups and her actions fiercely every time. But now, remembering it, she only cried more.
"Mom, how do you think you're responsible for all of this???" asks Ryder tentatively. Unable to utter a word due to her grief and heavy remorse, she looked at me helplessly, releasing a sign; I replied for her. "I hope you all remember about the Livian bloodline and the witch who cursed them?". Without giving them any chance to interrupt, I continued.
"Like you, all know, the witch cursed not only the culprit but also his entire bloodline, which was highly unnecessary from the witch's part. She sentenced not one but hundreds of innocent souls to unrest. And you all know how nature balance's everything. The only way I can conclude why nature took so long to retribute is because it wanted the witch to find someone so dear to herself. So that she could feel the pain of all those innocent souls", I replied to them but looked pointedly at my daughter. Unable to meet my eyes, she looked down helplessly.
"But gran, what does it has to do with Ryder and Chris??. It's not like they cursed the Livian bloodline. They weren't even born, then!!!" asks Caleb. " You're right, Caleb; they didn't curse anyone. But the thing you kids don't know is that the witch that we're talking about is Olivia", I replied to them. By this, Olivia started crying more hysterically, if that is even possible.
