The Adventures of Nagisa

For the longest time I was unwant, mistreated, and hated just because I was alive, after years of enduring that pain and suffering I was able to escape. For a few months I was on my own and it wasn’t easy because I’m not from this world, so I didn’t have much of my power left after using most of it to come to earth. After a few months someone finally noticed me in the alley I was staying in, but that human thought I was just a puppy because I was in my fox cub after using all that power, because he thought I was a puppy he took me home, and to be honest I didn’t really care ‘cause after half my life being mistreated I didn’t care what happened to me.

A few weeks after the human brought me to his home I decided to show him my true form and see what he would do, so when he came home I was right there in front of him.

“Hello, Human.” I said to him in my normal tone, and what he said to me next was really surprising

“ You decided to show me your true form. I'm glad you trust me enough to do that, also instead of calling me “human” you can call me by my name Tsumugu, my name is Tsumugu kihara.”

“...You're not scared of me? Also how did you know that wasn’t my true form?”

“I knew that wasn’t your true form because, well let’s just say that I used to know one of your kind a while ago.”

“...”

“Forget about it for right now, so what’s your name?”

“Oh, My name is Nagisa”

“Alright Nagisa, can I ask you a question?”

“Um, sure go ahead.”

“So um, this is gonna be a weird question, but would you mind showing me your ears and tail?”

“? sure and it’s not that weird of a question, but I have more than one tail.” So I let him see my ears and tails, his reaction is like a little kid’s I’ve never seen a reaction to my ears and tails like his, it makes me feel all warm inside.

“Your tails are so beautiful, they look like the sky when it’s at dusk, and your eyes are like across between the dark blue of a sapphire and purple of an amethyst.”

After he said that I probably looked so shocked, because in all my life no one has ever said something like that to me, as I was lost in thought Tsumugu’s voice snapped me back to reality.

“Did I say something wrong, you look like you're about to cry?”

“No you didn’t, it’s just no one has ever said anything like that to me before, so thank you.”

“I was just spelling my mind, there’s no need to thank me, but your welcome.”

When I looked at Tsumugu he was smiling brightly and it made me think of the one other person to make me feel this way, then I started to cry, which was really embarrassing.

The next morning when I woke up Tsumugu was gone and there was food out on the table so I sat down and ate, after I finished eating I took a look around Tsumugu’s house, I found a book with some pictures in it and I guess my curiosity got the better of me because I looked inside of it. When I looked inside of it I found pictures of Tsumugu and his family. As I looked farther I found pictures of him and I guess his friends and then I came across a picture with the one other person that didn’t hate me, it was my brother.

When Tsumugu got home we had dinner and I got the courage to ask him how he knew my brother, and then showed him the picture I found.

“He’s your brother.”

“Yeah, I want to know how you knew him?”

“Well like you he came to earth, for a few years, but I haven’t seen him since then.”

“That’s because he died, and it was because of me.”

“Would you mind telling me what happened, you don’t have to but your brother and I were really close.”

“I know you were, when he came back you were all he talked about for months, and no I don’t mind telling you how. It happened when I was five and my brother was seven. One day we were playing in the woods like we always do, then when we were on our way home and the peacekeepers came up to us, and grabbed us both by the arms, and dragged us to the center of town, chained both me and my broth up, and then after everyone gathered in the center…” tears started running down my face “They exiled him in front of everyone.” When I looked up I Tsumugu was crying.

“Uhh are you okay?”

“Yeah I’m fine.” Tsumugu said with his voice cracking

“Anyway, that’s how it happened. But his soul is still with me.”

“What do you mean?”

“The pendant I’m wearing has my brother's soul in it, I have that one in a million kind of power at least that’s what the people in my village said, of course that’s why they all hate me.”

“Did your brother choose to have his soul kept in your pendant?”

“Yeah he did, I was really surprised though, because most of my kind would want to be reincarnated. I even asked my brother why he wanted to, and he said “I don’t want you to be alone when I’m gone, because I know what you would do if I wasn’t here.” I was so happy to hear that, but it also made me feel guilty.”

“Wow, but why was he so worried about it?”

“Uh, well... He was worried because even when he was around I was pretty miserable, there was even a couple of times where I tried to kill myself. So he was worried that I might go back to my miserable self and end up actually ending my life.” When I looked up I saw a shocked look on Tsumugu’s face. “It's pretty late so we should get to bed, I’ll sleep on the couch tonight.”

“Are you sure, because you can use my bed?”

“No that’s okay, don’t worry about it.”

“Okay well good night then.”

“Yeah, good night.”

After I knew Tsumugu fell asleep all I could do was cry, I thought to myself “I guess bringing up the past hurts more than I thought.” After crying for a while, I was able to get a little sleep.

“Good morning.”

I wake up to hear the sizzling of bacon and the humming of Tsumugu’s voice. “Good morning”

“So I was thinking that we could have some breakfast and then I can show you around kyoto.”

“Hun, really that sounds amazing, I can’t wait.”

“Well I’m glad you're excited.”

“Yeah I can’t wait.”

This is the first time I’ll be able to get out of the house since I came to earth, I might be exaggerating since it’s only been about two months, but still I’m excited to be able to see the world. So just like Tsumugu said after we finished breakfast we got ready.

“Hmm, well you can’t go out looking like that, no offense but people would stare, but I don’t have any female clothes.”

“Well I know it might be weird but I could borrow some of your clothes, until I can get my own that is.”

“Uh, okay sure I’ll get you a pair, just wait here.”

“Okay.”

“I’m ba-ck”

“Hmm, what’s wrong?”

“Oh nothing, It’s just I’ve never seen you with your hair down.”

“Oh yeah I don’t like to keep it down much ‘cause it tends to get tangled”

“I get, I have a friend just like that with her hair.”

“That’s nice, anyway let’s get ready and head out.”

“Right.”

So Tsumugu left the room and went to get ready, I also got ready and then waited for a bit. A couple minutes later Tsumugu came out of his room.

“What took you so long?”

“Sorry lets go?’

“Okay”

So we headed out, our first stop was a nice little bakery.

“Oh, I love pastries!”

“I didn’t know you had bakeries in the underworld.”

“Well we don’t, but I had a lot of time on my hands so I taught myself how to bake.”

“Oh well that’s cool.”

After we bought some pastries we went to cloth store to get me some new clothes,

“I like this one, can I try it on?”

“Of course I’ll show you where the changing room is.” A couple minutes later, “Okay here we are.”

“I’ll be done in a bit.” A minute later “So how does it look on me?”

“Y-yeah it does.”

“Are you okay if your face is red?”

“Yeah I’m fine, don’t worry.”

After we finished at the clothing store we spent a couple more hours at some shops and having Tsumugu showing me around, then we went home. After we got home it was around lunch, so after we finished Tsumugu said he had to go to work. Before he left he gave me a box of books to go through. I found some great ones from earth, I also found some of my brother's books.

“Do you remember that one?”

I jerked my head up at the sound of that voice and thought to myself “it couldn’t be” and when I looked up I saw my brother standing beside me.

“Yuki is that really you?”

“You shouldn’t be so surprised. I told you that my soul will be able to show itself to you whenever.”

“Sorry I guess I forgot, anyway I’m glad to see you it’s been a while since we got to talk like this.”

“Yeah, I guess you're right.”

All the sudden I hear thump and jerk my head around to see Tsumugu standing there with tears in eyes.

“Tsumugu, I thought you left for work?!”

“I was on my way, but then they called and said they made a mistake and didn’t today. Is that Yuki or am I seeing things?”

“No you're not seeing things, he is Yuki’s soul.”

Oh okay, Yuki it’s been a while.”

“Hi Tsumugu it’s good to see you.”

Chapter 2

It’s been three weeks since the day my brother's soul came out of the pendant , but we haven’t seen him since. “Mornin Tsumugu.”

“...Nagisa? I didn’t know you could cook.

“Yeah I had to learn from my brother, because well I think you know why.”

“Heh yeah, anyway what are you making?”

“I’m just making some eggs and bacon for breakfast.”

“Alright I’m gonna go get dressed, then I’ll be out for breakfast.”

“Okay.” I wonder if Tsumugus okay, he’s been acting weird ever since we saw my brother’s soul?

“Um Nagisa the bacon is burning.”

I jump as the sound of his voice snaps me back to reality “Shoot”

“Sorry about that.”

“It’s alright, did I startle you? You looked like you were in deep thought or something?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Alright let’s eat.”
