Chapter 1
Kane
"Mr. Hall, your father and mother are here to see you."
Why are they here? Weren't they in Italy? After my father handed me the company, both of my parents took off to see the world. They mostly send me the pictures of their new adventures and cruises.
"Sure. Where are they?"
"They requested to be seated in the conference hall."
"Okay. Take these files to Ms. Goldberg and tell her to read them thoroughly and take notes on the propositions."
"Yes sir"
"Oh and also tell her that these notes shall be on my desk by 3 p.m."
I take the elevator to go down to the conference hall as my office is at the top floor. I don't like to be disturbed so only my office is at the top floor along with a spare room.
I knock on the door.
"Come in."
"Hello father and mother. What are you doing here?"
"straight down to business, I see"
I chuckle at my father's playful words while my mother elbows him in his ribs.
"no hug for your mother"
As soon as my mother says those words, I take her into my embrace and hold her close.
"never mum."
"give your old but not so old father a hug as well"
I immediately hug my father.
"so what are you both doing here?"
"well we came here to tell you that your Alpha ceremony is in a few months and your mate needs to be by your side at the moment that you will be given the crown so.."
Ah so my suspicion was right. They were here to emotionally manipulate me to search for my mate but I have told them repeatedly that a mate will divert my focus and i can't let that happen. Also the idea of sticking to one person for the rest of my life seems unreal to me.
"Mother-"
"Do not mother me. I have heard your excuses for long enough. I am ordering you as Luna and I expect my orders to be fulfilled."
"your mother is right son. I have seen the tabloids of you with other women and it irritates me. Your mate will not appreciate you promiscuous behaviour."
There he goes once again. They always got irritated when I brought girls home in my teenage years and would always scold me. Mum even went as far as to scare the girls out of the house. Maybe this time I should listen to them.I will think about this later.
"Sure. I understand. We can talk about this on dinner."
"Hell yea."
Father and I laugh at mum's excitement. They leave to visit their favourite spots in the city and I go back to work.

3 p.m. rolls around--
"Sir, May I come in?"
"Sure."
I look up and I see Ms. Goldberg with a seductive smile on her face and few buttons of her blouse undone.
"Sir, here are the notes you needed." She says bending a little too much so that I could see her cleavage and her red lace bra. I know what she wants but I am too tired for her nonsense.
She comes around and sits on my lap. She starts caressing my chest and unbuttoning my shirt.
"Ms. Gold-"
Before I can even finish, she starts kissing me. I am too tired. Let's just get this over with.
After about an hour of whatever we did, she starts getting dressed.
"so Kane--"
"It's Mr. Hall for you"
I see that a disappointed look comes over her face. I know she expects me to comfort her or whatever but I am not going to. She and I both know that this was just sex and nothing more than that.
"but I thought that --"
"you thought what? That because I had sex with you a couple of times, we are in a relationship. I heard you say that you are my girlfriend to your gossip friends."
I know I was being a jerk but I knew what she wanted from me. She wanted money and power. She liked to brag about stuff to make her look better than others. I gave her the job because she was good and also a little sex never hurt anyone but for her to claim that she is my luna was atrocious.
"So you just used me."
"I did not use you. I told you clearly that I was only interested in a sexual relationship. You are not my mate."
"So that is the reason. But you can mark me--"
"I don't want to."
I could see her getting angry but I did not want her to think that she was queen when she was not.
"When you will find your mate. I will kill her and then you will accept me as your mate."
I got angry as soon as she spat those disgusting words out of her mouth. I took her by the neck and pinned her to the wall.
"you dare say that to your king. I hereby banish you from the royal pack and you are fired, bitch."
I leave her and she gets up and runs out of my office with anger and disbelief on her face. Serves her right.
