Madeline
One thing that has changed me after my father's passing, Is to never give up on hoping. Face your demons and fight them by yourself. Whenever life kicks you and you stumble, fall on your knees. You lift yourself up and get up.
It breaks me to see my mother losing hope and breaking piece by piece. The pain written in her eyes is too much for me to handle. I have become a full and shallow. My feelings have shut down. I cannot feel anything anymore. I cannot cry, I cannot laugh and I cannot smile.
“Madeline are you ready to go?” My mother asked pulling me away from my thoughts.
“Yes mother. Just grabbing my charger.” I replied pulling my charger from the plug.
I make my way to the car, locking the door from my old house and putting the keys under the carpet for the agent to collect.
“Finally, I was about to leave you behind.” My mother exclaimed getting inside the car.
I chuckle getting inside the car. Making myself comfortable for the long drive from New Jersey to Los Angeles.
I plug in my earphones and let my thoughts drift me to sleep.
I shift as I hear someone calling my name. “Madeline wake up honey we here.” My mother states walking to the boot and pulling our suitcases out.
I make way to my mother and help her with the luggage. Pulling my suitcase to our new house I follow mother as she opens the door and putting the lights on.
My jaw drops as I look around the house. The house fully furnished and so modern. Every piece of furniture brand new. I look at mom who is still gazed to our family picture stuck above on a big wall next to a black grand piano.
“So what do you think?” She asks getting out from her own thoughts.
I look her at one more time. As I attack her with a huge.
“I know it's hard mom. But remember what father said to us. Just hold don't lose control.” I smooth talk her with some words of encouragement.
I pull out from the hug and wipe the tears staining her face. I smile at her and peck her cheeck.
“Thank you my angel.” She said pulling me to the staircase and leading me to a room.
“This is your room. I arranged it like how it used to be. I hope you like it.” She says
I gasp and look around my new room. My paintings hanged on the wall. A shelf full of my novels.
“Ohh thank you mom. I love you, I love you, I love you.” I jump excited Kissing her whole face.
“Ohh darling it is my pleasure. Tommorow it's your first day at your new school. Everything is ready, you just need to collect your schedule.” she says
I nod. Thinking about how I much I hate school. Meeting new people, new friends if I will have one.
“In the morning before you come go to school. There is a surprise waiting for you in the garage.” My mother says walking away.
A surprise. I wonder what it is. I grab my luggage and start packing, filling my closet with clothes.
I took me a hour and half to finish packing. I walk downstairs heading to the kitchen where mom is. I see her already preparing the table.
I grab a sit at dinning table. Looking at my food.
“So mom have you found a job yet?” I ask. Poking my broccoli and pulling it to my mouth.
“Ohh yes angel. I got transferred to another hospital here. And I am starting tommorow morning.” She replies putting salad dressing on her salad.
“Well that's nice. We both waking up tommorow morning.” I reply feeling happy for my mom.
“Hmmm. And honey don't forget to make new friends at school okay.” She states sipping her red wine.
She knows how I don't make friends at school. I guess on having friends won't hurt. I hum at her. Taking my plate to the sink and washing the dishes.
I kiss my mom and wishing a her a goodnight. I walk to my room, slip in my pjamas. Slipping in to my comfort bed and drifting to sleep.
