"The preface/blurb (?) was attention grabbing. Specifically, a unique idea that a member of royalty can speak with a planet. There was only slight confusion as to whether he was speaking to his original planet that was uninhabitable or the new planet that they arrived on. And if it is the new planet, why does he have a connection to it? You mention it is your first time writing this genre so just a bit of advice, be weary of the “chosen one” trope that comes with this genre. First chapter started off confusing. It’s said that the world is a welcomed sight to the refugees, which would make it seem like they just arrived, but then it says that they’ve been there for 70 cycles. There was confusion with the MC’s father. At first it says he’s the fourth son of the last King but goes on a few sentences later to say he was the first son of the King. I only read the first chapter and those were some notes. Additionally, there seems to be some back and forth between the current timeline and what happened in the past, which can be confusing. Personally, I know you’re trying to set up how the world works and explain what is what, but the first chapter felt like you were just listing off random species and parts of this world, so it felt unnatural and rushed. Almost like, okay here’s the world, we’ll start the actual story in chapter two. Overall, it can be organized better, cleaned up some on grammar (all of which I’m sure you’ll get to when you start editing), but I find the idea of the story to be intriguing and am curious why the MC can speak to a planet and how that will impact the story. Good luck!"
