Chapter 1

Hey, this is my first short story. I hope you’d love it! I hope you'd support me. Please comment after reading, it would be helpful for teenage starters like me.

The last thing I saw was my watch pulsating and flashing red before he grabbed my throat and pinned me onto the wall. I sat bolt upright, relieved it was only a nightmare. I hardly made out the image of the man from my dream.

The next noon, I hustled to the restaurant where I work part-time. The restaurant looked idle with very few customers, so my absence didn’t make much of a difference. My best friend -Joel has already paced up in work before me. “Hello, Birthday girl! You are late for work today!” He welcomed me warmly just after serving a plate to a customer. After days of exhausting work pressure, I failed to celebrate my birthday. He hugged me and wished me. I felt glad that I have someone to count on.

Suddenly a spark of shock excited when a plate dropped off the table. Joel went to clean the mess; I replaced a new one for the customer. He looked rugged and anonymous with a titanic outfit.

Hours passed; workload pressurized us. Joel and I spent our time with humorous jokes while work seemed to get a little smoother. Suddenly, he got a phone call. “What! It can’t be...; alright I will be there right away”. His legs rattled, his eyes turned red, “I have to go now, and it’s an emergency. Oops, I’ve got something for you...Happy Birthday, Charlotte!” he handed me a wrapped mini box from his pocket and sprint out of the restaurant. I wondered what’s wrong.

Next few hours, my waitress job multiplied to satisfy Joel’s place. Finally, I walked down the remote street and got some fresh air to relieve myself. Curiously, I opened the box which Joel gifted me. There was a watch.

It also seemed to be inserted with a device that can monitor and alarm my palpitations. Just like the one from my dream.
