The Beginning

Wolfe and Klutz stare up at the building, “We’re really doing this?” Klutz asks skeptically.

Wolfe raises her eyebrow at her long time friend, “Yes. We are doing this. We’ve bought this mansion. There is literally no going back, unless you secretly have half a million dollars hiding somewhere.”

Klutz sighs explosively and clicks her tongue, “I still don’t get why you bought a mansion instead of an actual office.”

“It’s so our future employees get to work in a comfortable environment! I want them to feel comfy and treat the office like a home away from home. Plus, we bought this. With our own money. We don’t have to rent no trashy office,” Wolfe nodded at her explanation and turned back towards the mansion, “We’ve got a shit ton of decorating to do.”

“I’m not doing that.”

“What? Klutz! C’mon! You gotta! I can’t do this on my own!”

“No! I hate these kinda things, you know that!”

“Klutz please.”

Klutz turns to look at Wolfe’s pleading expression and whines and groans, stomping her feet and Wolfe grins already knowing that Klutz can never deny her best friend anything. “Fine,” Klutz sighs out, “BUT! I’m calling someone to come help us. I swear to god if you weren’t my best friend I would have left you here stranded,” she mutters while stalking away, whipping her phone out. Wolfe hops around in place, excited that she would not be doing it all on her own and Klutz is even getting someone to help!

She taps her feet impatiently as the line rings, “I swear to all that is unholy if this bitch doesn’t pick up I am going to march over to her hou- Hey!!! You awake?”

The other person groans out loud, “What the fuck? It’s 7 in the goddamn morning, I just came back. I have 5 months off, can’t this wait?”

“Nup! I didn’t know you were back! But since you are, come to the address in 45 mins. I’ll send it to you after the call. Thank you so much for volunteering your help Zowa, I knew I could count on you,” Klutz ended the call before Zowa could say another word strutted back to Wolfe’s side triumphantly.

Zowa groans so loud her neighbour bangs on their shared wall, hitting it back harder she grunts as she slinks off the bed gracefully and looks down at her phone when it dinged. She blinks at the address and rolls her eyes, 45 mins her ass. The place is less than 10 minutes away from her apartment. How long did that girl think she needed to get ready?

She looks at the address again, it was for the mansion at the edge of town. Klutz wants her to meet her there. She is either in trouble or she bought the mansion. Zowa prays that she isn’t in any trouble but the mansion’s price is way too high for her to have bought it.

She slips out of her worn shorts and into her pair of trusty jeans and a clean violet shirt. She debates bringing any weapons and ends up slipping a couple blades into her military style boots, just in case she tells herself. She looks herself in the mirror and observes her usually immaculate cheek length bob cut curl around her jaw, “I need a haircut,” she mutters to herself.

She grabs her bike’s key and and jogs down the stairs, she has a 45 minute time limit but early is on time and on time is late. She looks at her watch and sees that she still has 40 minutes left, pulling her phone out she texts her sister.

To Dumbass: You want bagels? From Dumbass: Fuck yea.

From Dumbass: You’re going to the cafe at the corner of Denver Street right?

To Dumbass: Obviously.

From Dumbass: Get one Sour Cream and Onion and a Jalapeno Cheese for me.

To Dumbass: You’re with someone?

From Dumbass: Also two coffees. You know how I like mine and one coffee with quarter a cup of milk and two pumps of caramel syrup.

She’s not alone. Zowa narrows her eyes at her phone, from the way she’s texting Zowa can tell she’s not in trouble which means she may have actually bought the mansion at the edge of town. She dodged the question so it’s most likely someone she hasn’t met before. Zowa swings her leg over her bike and starts it up, in 15 minutes she’s got the goods and is on her way to the mansion.

Klutz and Wolfe were bent over the hood of the car with a blueprint spread out between them, they were lucky they had enough money to pay for someone to renovate the mansion to their mind’s eye and now all they had to do was do its interior design. Klutz shoots up from her position to stare at the end of the driveway where a sleek bike was making its way towards them and she nudges Wolfe.

“I want you to meet somebody.”

Wolfe looks up curiously and they wait as the person on the bike comes to a stop and pulls off her helmet. Her breath gets caught as the girl on the bike swings her head back to get the hair out of her face. She brings her hand up to run it through her hair and lets it fall gently around her face, framing it like a beautiful portrait.

Zowa twists herself off her bike and stalks forward to pull Klutz into a bruising hug, Klutz wraps her arms around her sister’s form just as tight and mutters into her shoulder, “It’s been too long.”

Zowa tightens her arms around Klutz and sighs deeply into the top of her head, they separate and Klutz introduces her to Wolfe, “Zowa, this is Wolfe. One of my best friends. Wolfe, this is Zowa. She’s my sister.”

Wolfe stares at her with her mouth open, eyes drinking in every aspect of the girl’s form. Her eyes darted up to look her in the eye and was shocked at how vibrant her eyes were, striking amber eyes stares back at her and she stammers out her greeting, “H-hi,” she put her hand forward, years of manners drilled into her by her upbringing.

Zowa smirks slightly at the other girl staring at her, seemingly starstruck, well if that wasn’t an ego boost, she shakes her dainty hand and Wolfe marvels at how warm her hand is. Klutz rolls her eyes and huffs, “Where’s the food? I’m starving because someone,” she shoots a glare at Wolfe, “decided to drag me out of bed at the ass crack of dawn.”

Wolfe makes an affronted noise, “We need the entire day to put down a plan of action and that can’t happen if you’re lazing in bed until 2 in the afternoon!” Klutz rolls her eyes and shoves her bagel in her mouth and sips on her overly sweet coffee.

“We bought this big ass mansion because we are opening a resort on an island that we own and this is headquarters,” Klutz explained with her mouth stuffed full of bagels, nodding in the direction of the mansion.

Zowa stares at the two of them with her eyebrow raised, “Where did you get all that money? Are you doing something illegal? Klutz, tell me you got all this money legally.”

“Oh my god. Yes! The money is clean!”

Zowa starts at her distrustingly and turns her gaze towards Wolfe, whose hand she was still holding, she drops it quickly and gently. Wolfe blushes and squashes down her dismay at the loss of warmth and explains to Zowa gently.

“The island was owned by my ex-husband. He left everything to me in the event of his death. He was the owner of Cordell’s Corporations and I sold the company and used some of the money to buy the mansion. Klutz paid for the renovations ’cause she refused to let me pay for everything. I promised that we’re not doing anything illegal, just lucky circumstances is all.”

Zowa stares at the red headed girl and reaches out to place her hand on her shoulder, “My condolences, I’m so sor-,” she was cut short by Klutz snorting.

“Don’t feel sorry. He was a bastard and a half. He beat her from hell to back but Wolfe’s a strong gal. He’s gone forever now and that’s all that matters.”

Zowa stares at her sister in a new light from that statement, Klutz had said that with too much conviction to not have any involvement in his death. “How’d he die?” She asked lightly.

“Unfortunate car accident. Death of the century. The entire country mourned,” Klutz answered tightly, a vicious glint in her eyes. Zowa nodded her approval and decided to switch topics, “So you guys got anything to do around here?”

Klutz did a weird wiggle dance and offered to bring Zowa for a tour around the mansion, she linked her arm with her sister’s and pulled her forwards towards the gate. Wolfe comes up next to Klutz and links their arms together as well, not willing to stand next to Zowa in fear of doing something that may potentially embarrass herself.

Klutz was going on and on about the mansion and all of its space and how they were going to decorate it but Zowa only had eyes for the petite redhead standing next to her pigheaded sister.

“At the moment, it’s called the Yuh Yuh Cult.”

“Yuh yuh,” Wolfe agreed from next to Klutz with a tiny double nod.

Cute, Zowa thought.

Zowa finds herself surprised when they stop at an overgrown backyard, it had a pool that was overdue for some vigorous cleaning and some bushes that had so much potential. Zowa looks around and her eyes catch sight of the way Wolfe’s hair glitters when underneath the sunshine and she had to physically stop herself from reaching out to run her hand through the silky locks.

Wolfe catches her staring and looks up at Zowa from underneath her eyelashes, blinking coyly. Zowa bites her lower lips to keep in the moan at the back of her throat, she clears her throat and looks away. She looks towards her sister just to catch the tail end of her spiel, “So I thought that you and Wolfe could get started on the backyard while I go to the hardware store to get more things that we need, Wolfe should have the supplies for the gardening at the back of her car. Okay? Okay. Byeeeeeee!”

The other two watch as Klutz whirls out of the mansion and it wasn’t long before they hear her start her car and peeled off the driveway. Wolfe blushes and hurries towards her car to grab the tools needed. When she came back, Zowa had her sleeves rolled up to her shoulders and was pulling the worst of the weeds out with her bare hands. Wolfe gapes from the sliding glass door and gulps when Zowa flexes her arms to get a better grip on a particularly stubborn overgrown branch.

Wolfe clears her throat, “You should wear some gloves when you do that,” she says as she holds out the gloves for Zowa.

Zowa twists her neck towards the sweet voice and smirks, she stalks over towards the shorter girl and reaches up to presumably take the gloves. Wolfe was ready to let go when Zowa grabs her wrist instead, she looks up into her eyes, shocked.

Zowa looks Wolfe in the eye, “You’re beautiful, did you know that?”

Wolfe stares back at her, mouth gaping and she stutters, “Wh-what?”

Zowa smirks and doesn’t respond, taking the gloves from Wolfe’s hands she kisses the inside of her wrist gently and goes back to weeding the overgrown bushes.

It’s been a couple weeks since they’ve started on cleaning the monstrosity of the mansion. They’ve cleaned the pool, preened the mini garden, painted almost all of the rooms and have furnished the entire place. Zowa had not mentioned “The Incident” as Wolfe had taken to calling it in her head.

After “The Incident” she couldn’t get Zowa out of her mind, it doesn’t help that they’ve gotten closer over the weeks as it seems that Klutz liked leaving the two of them alone to do the painting together while she disappears off to God knows where.

Wolfe giggles at another story of how ridiculous Klutz was as a young child and curls her fingers around Zowa’s wrist. After finishing the hard labour for the day, the two of them liked sitting next to each other and just chatting about everything and anything.

It started with casual touches, a pat on the shoulder here and there, a relaxed arm around her shoulders that slowly graduated to head pats and being sat closer than usual. The first time Wolfe had dared cuddle up next to Zowa, she was tense, body taut with tension ready for rejection but was pulled even closer by Zowa and slowly she relaxed as Zowa’s fingers twirls around the strands of hair that escaped her bun. They’ve taken to a position that allows them to lean against each other and still be able to sit comfortably.

Head laid on the taller girl’s shoulder and Zowa’s arm wrapping loosely around Wolfe’s waist, legs intertwined with each other and hands almost always touching each other. It was almost impossible to see where each of them started and ended.

Klutz found them dozing off in the position more than once, and may or may not have taken pictures, she couldn’t resist! They were adorable. After the 5th time she saw them, she was 90% sure they were dating but then upon more observation she realises that they were so gay for each other they didn’t even realise. She has started leaving them alone together to get them to confess to each other but it doesn’t seem like either of them have done that.

Klutz stops at the doorway, her phone at the ready to take some pictures, she quickly falls quiet at the scene she just walked in on. Wolfe was fully asleep, leaning against Zowa like she was the softest pillow on earth. Klutz feels her breath catch as she sees the expression her sister has on her face. She quickly snaps the picture and slips out the doorway quietly, she looks down on her phone and smiles softly.

Zowa looks at Wolfe like she was the very reason she was alive, eyes soft and lips quirk in a small smile. Wolfe’s hand was curled around Zowa’s wrist with Zowa’s jacket draped over her sleeping form, even sleeping she had a tiny smile on her face like she just knew that Zowa was there watching over her.

She pops her head into the room again and catches Zowa’s eyes, she shuffles into the room quietly and sits down gently so as to not make any noise to disturb the sleeping girl.

“I’ve never seen you with such a sappy look on your face before,” she teased quietly.

Zowa tensed, expecting to be reprimanded for having feelings for her sister’s friend, “You make her happy, you know that? She hasn’t laughed this much in so long. You should tell her how you feel about her.”

She was not expecting for her sister to practically give them her blessing, she nods slightly and the two sisters fall into a hushed banter just like they used to when they were kids when it was late and were supposed to be asleep.

Klutz looks at the time and stands up, “I gotta go, see you guys tomorrow?”

Zowa nods again and Klutz shuffles forward to give a kiss on her sister’s forehead, “Love you.”

“Love you too,” Zowa whispers back quietly.

It wasn’t long after Klutz left that Wolfe woke slowly, she blinked and looked up to ask Zowa what time it was but was taken aback by the intense expression on her face.

“Z-Zowa? Is everything alright?”

Zowa looks Wolfe in the eye, “I could love you, you know.”

Wolfe stares back at her, mouth gaping and she stutters, “Wh-what?”

“I’m serious. I can love you, if you’ll let me.”

Wolfe thinks of the past few weeks and how easy it was to be with Zowa and how it was nothing like her and Harry’s relationship. With him it always felt forced and so dull, she faked so much of herself with him back then but when she was with Zowa it all felt natural. She never felt this way with someone before. She looks into her eyes trying to gauge how sincere she was.

Zowa lets Wolfe have her moment, she doesn’t look away staring into Wolfe’s beautiful eyes and allowing herself to bare her soul to a woman she knows she can let herself fall in love with.

Wolfe bites her lips and her eyes dart down to Zowa’s lips, she leans forward and places a tiny kiss on them, she makes a happy noise when Zowa presses their lips together firmly and they let themselves enjoy it. It was a simple kiss, just two lips pressed against each other and yet, it felt like everything, if the building started going up in flames they wouldn’t have noticed.

Wolfe leaned back and opened her eyes, she didn’t realise she had closed them, she places her head back on Zowa’s shoulder and the two of them cuddle well into the night.

Klutz shows up at the Yuh Yuh Cult bright and early, if Zowa had done it right the two of them either stayed the night to do the dirty or went back to one of their places. She was not expecting the two of them to be in the same position from when she left. She smiles and enjoys the two of them before realising that it’s creepy to stare at them sleeping. She snaps another picture of the two of them being disgustingly happy before firing up the bluetooth speaker they have in the corner of the room.

She connects it to her phone and blares Bang Bang by Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

’Bang bang into the room (I know you want it)

Bang bang all over you (I’ll let you have it)

Wait a minute let me take you there (ah)

Wait a minute ’til you (ah, hey!)

The two girls jerks awake and Wolfe’s head slams into the wall with a loud crack, disorientated as she is, Zowa pulls her girlfriend’s head towards her and rubs it gently, placing tiny kisses to make it better. She glares at her and narrows her eyes at her, eyes promising vengeance. Klutz runs out of the room cackling the entire way.
