Summary

Hello! I... guess you want a summary? Well, this story is about a 14 year old boy, Rehan, who lives in the North. The year is 4025, and the world has been split into four corners; North, East, South and West. Everything was going great, until a plague wiped out over 90% of the population. Rehan, armed with the pocket knife his mum gave him, and a stupid chicken called Bex, must survive. But his boyfriend is missing (aym gay character alert. Imcouldn’t help myself but make Rehan gay), probably dead, and so are his family. Food is scarce, and eating any found on the streets could lead to a slow and painful death. But Rehan is determined - he has no kakorrhaphiophobia (fear of failure, fact fans). So, the question is.. will Bex and him survive? And... what the hell happened to his boyfriend, Danie?! I’d like to know that! I, Sam, the author of this book, want to know what happened! I have no plan, I am literally basing this off songs. I already have a chapter prepared for I See A Dreamer (that’s where I learned the word for fear of failure, so music IS educational). In case you can’t tell. I (Sam), have a habit of going on and on, but I’m not going to break that habit. Another thing to say! (When will I shut up!?) - The currency. They use coins called Brunxes, and Coppas. Idk why..

Chapter 1

I remember, there wasn’t always a plague. When I was younger, everything was... normal. We could go outside without seeing dead bodies from our doorstep, without fearing we’d drop dead. But, that all changed in the span of a few days. They think it was the people from East, that contaminated out food and brought the plague here, but East is refusing to take the blame. West isn’t thriving as it used to, either, and handful of inhabitants left are either too scared to fight, or just don’t have the mental and/or physical strength. South isn’t... there anymore; I’ve seen the newspapers. Where there was once a great empire, now lies empty and abandoned streets. Whether they all died, or somehow got away, we may never know. North, where I live, has been completely wrecked. It used to be the 2nd best corner to live; South was always the best, but North came in close 2nd, and it’s now completely torn to shreds, the few inhabitants left fighting for survival.

The streets, once filled with stalls, and lit up at night, are now filled with corpses. You can’t walk 20 steps without having to dodge around a few, and it’s normal to see half-dead people lying in the gutters. At first, people tried taking the sick in, healing them, but that just led to the plague spreading even more. Nowadays, if you see someone lying in the gutter, you run for your li
