01: The Professers Lovechild
•●Reiner's POV●•
I remember once hearing how everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. So then, who knows and sees the truth?
Ugh... and I have to get back to class soon but it's too rainy of a day for school to be on. Everyday is always the same, we live like prisoners- or rather brainwashed animals.
My steps were heavy as I dragged them to homeroom, it was a sudden change in the timetable but apparently worth replacing it with Maths for today. Whatever it is I just hope it doesn't take too much energy away from me.
The corridoors were filled with students and their intoxicating perfumes, all with their popular scents that I recognised a million times before with my past girlfriends.
Although I was at a taller height than most, I clouded my vision by looking down, noticing not only my shoes but everyone elses.
When I arrived the door was already open with students chatting amongst themselves and Professer Hange getting her powerpoint ready with huge boxes by her side.
"Reiner!" I turned to find Pieck next to Porco, she was waving at me kindly- her eyes as tired and droopy as mine. I worked up the energy to carve a smile for her.
My eyes trailed all around the 30 seats in the class and noticed that I didn't know half of these people. "Reiner!" Professer smiled cheerfully at me. "Take a seat, I know you'll like this one." She says.
For some reason, I could sense my chest slightly growing lighter at her reassuring words. I wouldn't mind a few seconds of happiness. I haven't felt a hint of it in the past 2 months. The last feeling of happiness I felt was when I found out Gabi came first in an archery competition.
She can be a lot to handle but she's still my talented little cousin.
"Settle down!" I heard Historia yell out loud as we all took a seat.
Professer Hange gave her a nod and a small 'thank you' to her before beginning. "As you all know, you're all in the health and social department for your choices." She took slow yet calculated steps to the front of her desk.
"This is a project almost all students had to do, we had to let some off because of family issues." She winced playfully while opening one of the boxes. "But this will be graded!"
At last, she pulled out what seemed like a baby doll, except it was the normal size of an actual newborn and seemed realistic. The entire class groaned when their thoughts and ideas about what this project could be clicked together.
"No! Shhhhh! Nuh uh!" Professer Hange rejected any negative opinions and quickly shut us up again. "I'll start handing these out now and you better be thankful that our school even afforded these fake children."
"We've had them for eight years though!" Someone from behind me moaned. "Who cares?" Professer blurted, going back behind her desk and bending down the project something on the board.
"Here, these are the partners I have assigned you all with!"
I tried squinting my eyes to read them all, finding Historias name next to mine. My teenage self would be jumping up and down at the opportunity but I had lost feelings for her after finding out her and Ymir were dating.
"Miss Hange!" I heard her whine, "Pretty pleaaaase!" Although I hadn't heard her previous words I already knew she was begging to switch partners with someone so that she could be with Ymir.
"Fine! But only this once!" Professer Hange huffs, trying her hardest to peel the blonde off of her. Ymir jumped up and down in joy, hugging the shit out of Historia before turning to face me, her eyes burning into my soul.
"You can have the weirdo."
"Huh?" I cocked a brow. "Y/n. Your partner is now Y/n L/n." She smirked wickedly. Why was she talking about whoever this Y/n was as if they were some kind of monster that constantly shat nuclear waste.
"Never heard of this Y/n." I mutter, resting my face on my propped up palm. She and Historia began laughing. "Oh you'll find out soon." They say, arms around each other as always.
"Whatever."
Before Professer Hange could start handing out the babies, the fire alarm went off and we were all forced to evacuate the building.
Turns out it was a false alarm from the looks of things.
And so we all stood there in a line watching the building look as clear as day. "I bet they were just testing the new alarms." Zeke says from behind us.
Of course they were.
"So who did you guys get?- For you know, partners." Yelena asks.
"Oh yeah speaking of which- you got Y/n!" Porco mentions from behind me, which for some reason caused a slightly wonder to spike.
"Who is this Y/n and why won't everyone stop talking about them?"
All my friends gave each other worried glances before darting a comforting gaze towards me, like someone beat me up or something.
"Dude, she's the schools weirdo- like Professer Hange's love child but way worse!" Porco urges, sounding like he was advertising a hate community for this Y/n.
"Oh?"
"Just- I don't think she's here today but just you wait tomorrow! Ymir was wise to dodge that!"
Suddenly, the sky struck a deafening strike of thunder, slightly making me flinch. "Guys!" Professer Hange yelled over the heavy shower that was followed by the lightning.
"We'll continue the lesson tomorrow since we ran out of time! Be there okay?!"
Everyone screamed a yes and covered their heads frantically in fear. I didn't care to be honest, I just let myself soak in the rain, my clothes sticking to my body.
"Reiner come on! We can go back inside now!" Marcel and Bertholdt called from afar, both of them using their hoodies as refuge.
I sighed but jogged after them.
Authors note:
This is probably a bad start to be honest but I'm aiming for the greatest with this book!
It may not become the best but I'll make sure the following chapters will be great, so thanks for reading this💜
For now I'll make sure to keep everything in my notes so I don't mess up the plot
