First day of College

“Remember to call us after your first day” mom spoke

“I won’t” I smiled

My alarm pounded through the air of my room and I bashed my hand on top of it. I reached over to my glasses, that was resting on my nightstand and lifted my head from my duvet. I pulled my glasses on and climbed out of bed. I walked over to my closet and pulled out a simple outfit that was a pair of jeans, a shirt that had paint stains which was part of the design, a pair of brown, knee high cosplay boots and my purple beanie. I walked into my bathroom and brushed my teeth before getting changed. I brushed my hair into a side plait and pulled my beanie on.

I grabbed my bag and walked into the small living space of what I can call home for the next few months while I’m away from my real home. I watered my plant and fed my fish, that I’ve brought to keep me company, and there was scratching at the door. I walked over and opened the door to have a stray puppy on my door.

“Hey little fella. What you doing here?” I spoke to him.

He limped over to me and I picked him up. His back leg was sore and I couldn’t leave him but I couldn’t miss my first day so I had to bring him in. I wrapped him up in my jacket and left my apartment with him. He started shaking from the lack of food and I had to go in a shop with him, which was a cafe.

“Hello love. How may I help you?” She spoke.

“Hi. I’m new so I don’t know whats on your menu.” I admitted.

“I recommend the glazed donuts.......” She trailed off as she saw my jacket move.

She peeked in to see my new puppy’s nose poke out. She didn’t demand me to get out but was considerate of putting a free bottle of water in the brown paper bag along with a couple of donuts and sausage rolls.

“That’s $2.50” She smiled.

I payed her and left with the things before bumping into a lad that was the same age as me.

“I’m so sorry” He spoke.

“Its fine” I smiled.

The puppy yelped and the lad looked at me before looking in my jacket. He gasped softly.

“What happened to him?” He asked.

“I found him on my doorstep” I spoke.

He looked at his watch and he left with saying another word. I walked to the college and I gave the puppy a sausage roll. He got it down him and my tutor saw me with him in my arms.

“Why is there an animal on campus?” He bellowed.

“Please sir. I couldn’t leave him at home today. He won’t be any trouble” I pleaded.

“Well. OK. Just for today and call in next time if you need to bring him in.” He spoke.

“Thank you sir” I smiled.

I walked to where I was suppose to be and I saw the lad that I bumped into.

I put my bag on the floor and made a makeshift bed for my puppy so I could check him over properly. I laided him down in it and used a lamp to get a better view of the area. The lad came over and I cleaned up my puppy’s leg.

“Why did you bring him here and not a vet?” He asked, kneeling next to me.

“I’m gonna get him into one after and he just turned up on my doorstep this morning.” I spoke.

My puppy yawned and he couldn’t drink properly. The lad went over to his work station and looked through his draws and pulled out a rubber pipe. He came back over and opened the water bottle and placed it in. My puppy got hydrated and I got onto working and doing some studying.

"I didn't catch your name earlier" The lad asked.

"Ella" I smiled.

"Nice to meet Ella. I'm Tadashi" He smiled back.

I don't know. Maybe college will be fun.
