What To Do?

"Ugh! I've missed you so much! How was your vacation?" Beyoncé said to her best friend of eleven years, Onika. The smaller woman smiled at her taller friend as they pulled away from one another.

"I've missed you more! It was amazing by the way. We went almost everywhere and did almost everything. From shopping to, resting, to jumping off fucking cliffs." Nicki said smiling widely. Beyoncé laughed at the thought of the small and scary woman jumping off of a cliff.

"I just know your scary ass didn't jump a cliff!" She said to her now pouting friend. Nicki slapped her friend on the arm before rolling her eyes.

"Yes I did! It was scary as shit too! I don't know how white people just do that shit for fun on a daily." She said to the taller woman as they laughed.

"And yet still be scared of black propel breathing." Beyoncé said sending the two women into fits of laughter. The two calmed and Onika spoke up.

"So anyways, how have you and my little lovie been doing?" Nicki asked, referring to Beyoncé's "step-daughter" Normani.

Beyoncé's smiled dropped and she rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Oop, uh oh. What's up?" Nicki asked her very stressed friend. Beyoncé took a deep breath before speaking.

"She hates me." Beyoncé blurted out after a pause. Nicki furrowed her brows at the woman in shock.

"What do you mean she hates you? Normani fucking adores you! What happened between the time I left and now?" She said in genuine confusion. Onika took a break from working for a year and some months, and in that year and some months, Beyoncé started to date the young woman's father, the relationship had gotten to the point of marriage. Onika was there for the wedding, but soon hopped right back on the plane after her friends reception. She was so focused on the happiness of her friend, that she didn't notice any shift in her and her "step daughters relationship".

"Nic, she's hated me since her father and I started to fucking date. It's gotten worse over time." Beyoncé said sadly. She and the young woman use to have an amazing bond before Beyoncé started to date her father. The moment the two became a couple, Normani started to push the woman away.

"Bey, come on. Getting into little arguments is what happens in these mother/daughter relationships are. My and my mom, you and Mama Tina, it's normal." Beyoncé rolled her eyes at her friend.

"No this isn't just regular arguments. She cannot stand to be around me at any moment in time. She rolls her eyes everytime I say hi, she goes to eat in her room with her food if I'm ever eating in the kitchen, in fact she won't even eat the fucking food I cook OR BUY!" Nicki pouted, feeling extremely bad for her friend. She wondered what went wrong.

"Have you tried talking to her about it?"She said. Beyoncé nodded her head.

"Yes! I've tried many times. I've tried to get her to sit down and talk, going shopping, going to a spa. Anything to get us to sit down and talk but she refuses to breathe the same air as me." Beyoncé said.

"And it's even worse now that she's gotten these knew friends that are the absolute worst influences on her." She continued.

"How are they bad influence?" Nicki questioned ?

"Ever since she started to hang with them she started drinking, coming home late, smelling like weed everytime she walks in the house, sneaking guys in the house-though not really sneaking because I know, she knows I know, and she doesn't care-she's just been reckless and whenever I check her about it she starts cutting up on me." Beyoncé said as she stood up and started pacing the floor.

"She loves to throw it in my face that I'm not her mom and that because her father left, that I was the reason, and I'm nothing but a woman she lives with by law." Nickis brows furrowed at what she was hearing.

"Wait, Wait back up." She said sitting up in her seat. "He LEFT?" She asked confused. Last she heard they were the perfect couple.

"Oh ... uh yeah. I didn't tell you about that." Beyoncé sighed and took a seat next to her friend again.

"He left us about four months into our marriage, sent me divorce papers and even adoption papers so that I could have full custody of Mani." Bey said softly.

"Bey, no, are you fucking serious right now? What the fuck, why?" She asked getting angry. She felt like a horrible friend right now. Knowing that she was out living her best life while her friend was at home struggling with a horrible ex husband and bratty step daughter was hurting her feelings and pissing her off.

"He left me for some white girl, Becky, or whatever the fuck her name is." She said, Nicki wanted to laugh knowing that wasn't the name of the woman, but the name Beyoncé used for almost every white woman she knew, but she knew this wasn't the time.

"Why?" Nicki asked. "I don't know. It's like one minuet we were fine and I was only putting up with Mani's attitude, the next he was cheating and running off with the bitch and leaving his kid with me. I signed the divorce papers, I couldn't make him stay." She said almost coming to tears.

"What about the adoption papers? Wait, how the fuck is the court even letting this shit happen?" Nicki asked pissed and confused.

"Well, he just basically gave her up without a fight, even went to the extreme and pretended to be on drugs and what not." She said.

"Bitch you're lying!" Nicki exclaimed.

"I fucking wish I was, like all this just to leave me and your kid? And the only reason I knew he was faking it was because I bumped into them one day and the dumbass told on himself, but he obviously didn't care. He was free." Beyoncé said. Nicki shook her head.

"So why's Mani throwing it in your face that you're not her mother, by law you actually are." She said. Beyoncé shook her head.

"No, I didn't sign the papers." Nicki looked at her confused. "Wait, why?"

"I- because she threatened me." Beyoncé said. Nicki damn near choked and slapped Beyoncé at the same time.

"Bitch don't tell me you're letting her little ass control you like you're someone's fucking white mom." Beyoncé giggled a bit.

"No, not like that. I know it sounds like real bad but it wasn't." Beyoncé started.

"She came home one night pretty tipsy and I really wanted to cut up but her bitch ass father sent me those fucking papers and I didn't have it in me to make her more upset nor the energy myself. I begged her to sit down and eventually she did and I let her know what was up. When I tell you I have never saw her so fucking broken in all the time I've known her, it was awful." Nicki pouted.

"Nic, she was fucking hurt. She was so angry. She ran up to her room and started throwing shit and just acting the fuck up. I let her because in all honesty she was doing shit that I wanted to do." Beyoncé took a pause before continuing.

"She calmed down for a little bit and came back downstairs and like ignored me. I brought up signing the adoption papers and she was not having it. She got so angry at me!"

"For agreeing to being her mother?" Nicki questioned.

"Yes! She said that if I signed the papers that she would hate me for her entire life and I started to argue with her but she took them and ripped them up, then burned them." Beyoncé said to her.

"She ripped and burned the ducking adoption papers? Yo, when I was here all she wanted was to be around you and could barely think for herself without you, as a fucking sixteen year old girl. You're telling me that in a year and a half she went from worshipping the ground you walk on, to hating your guts so bad that she would rather not have a fucking parent?" Nicki asked agitated at the entire situation.

"Thank you! Like I don't fucking get it! She fucking adored me when I was just Ms. Beyoncé, the lady next door. Suddenly when I have some significance in her life she can't stand me?" Beyoncé started obviously hurt.

"Did I tell you she almost called me a bitch the other day?" Nickis eyes widened and her mouth dropped.

"A BITCH?" She exclaimed.

"Yes! A bitch! She came home reeking of weed and I told her about herself, she goes, "Stop acting like my mom! You're just some bit-", and she stopped before she could finish because I was all but ready to whoop her ass if it slipped. She didn't even finish she just went to her room and I let her."

"Bey, why are you letting her run over you?" Nicki questioned. She loved Normani with all her heart, in fact she and the young girl were close, but she and Bey were closer. Not to mention it seemed as if Normani was getting out of hand and she needed to be handled.

"I don't mean to, I mean I hate that she hates me because of hw strong our bond use to be, but I'm at a point where I'm tired. Too tired to care. I love her, I really do, but she's about to be 18 soon, she's going off to school, and she'll be doing her, I'll be doing me and this'll all be over soon." Nicki smacked her lips.

"Now you know damn well you care about that girl way too much to just let her go and ruin her life after she leaves for school." Beyoncé shrugged at the statement. "Maybe, but she doesn't so I'm not gonna press the issue. Right now we're here because we have to b-" Beyoncé was cut off by the sound of the door opening and closing. The two looking at the young girl who walked in the room with her face buried in her phone and her fingers typing away.

"Hi Mani." Beyoncé said sighing. She didn't expect a response and she didn't get one. Her "step daughter" sighed and rolled her eyes as she ignored the woman and continued walking past the living room towards the stairs to get to her room.

Nickis eyebrows raised in shock. Her friend wasn't lying about the girls actions, but she missed the young woman and she didn't know if she really cared about her or not but saying hi wouldn't hurt.

"Hi, lovie." Nicki said to Normani as she passed the living room. Normani stopped abruptly at the first stair and lifted her head at the familiar voice. She walked backwards slowly towards the living room and turned her neck to see the woman smaller than her "step-mother" sitting on the couch with a big grin on her face. Normani's eye widened as a big smile came across her face as she dropped her bags and phone on the nearest couch before running and jumping into the older, yet slightly smaller woman.

"Miss Nicki!" Normani screamed out excitedly as she landed in Nickis lap. The older woman giggled and hugged her friends "step-daughter". Beyoncé looked at the interaction and felt her heart drop a little. It's been a while since Normani even gave the woman a simple "hi" or any words that weren't filled with hostility. Nicki comes back and gets all the love?

She wasn't upset, just a bit hurt and Nicki could tell as she looked over at her friend.

"Hi Lovie, how are you?" Nicki asked continuing to use the nick name Nicki had given her from the first time they met.

"I've been great!" Nickis eyebrows scrunched up. "Really?" She said knowingly.

"Yes! I'm about to be eighteen next week, and I'm leaving off for college in about three months! I couldn't be happier!" Normani said. She, and the two older women knew that she couldn't be happier to get away from the woman she was currently living with. Beyoncé turned away from the two and occupied herself with her phone.

"I'm happy for you! What school are you going to?" Nicki questioned as she shifted with the young woman still in her lap. Normani's smile got bigger.

"Juilliard!" She said excitedly. Beyoncé looked up from her phone and furrowed her brows. "You didn't tell me you got accepted into Juilliard." Beyoncé stated. She was more than hurt. When the two met, Normani had been planning to go to Juilliard when she left for school, they would always make plans, build up her portfolio, work on her resume, everything to get her into the school of her dreams. Normani would always tell the woman that she'd be the first to know if she had gotten in. She knew things had gotten bad, but this was horrible. She was honestly convinced that any part of Normani that had any kind of positive feelings for her were completely gone.

Normani rolled her eyes and ignored the woman, continuing on with the conversation.

"Anyways! I'm so freaking excited! I sent in my audition tape about two weeks ago and next thing I know, I'm in!" She said smiling extremely hard.

Nicki was beyond happy for the young woman. She knew this was her dream, she'd always help Bey and Mani get everything together on days she was with them and couldn't wait to see the girl thrive where she knew she could, but she was hurt seeing her best friend hurt. She knew no matter what Beyoncé said, she loved this little girl more than anything and couldn't handle the hate she had for her.

"T-that's good lovie! I'm so damn proud of you!" She said as she hugged the young woman.

"My orientation is in a few weeks, do you wanna come out there with me?" Normani asked Nicki. Beyoncé's head snapped toward the two. Nicki looked between the women and she couldn't believe the hole she was in. She didn't want to disappoint the young woman and risk her hating her also, but she couldn't hurt her friend like that.

"I'd love to lovie, but I have to check my schedule. You know I'm back finally and I gotta get to work. If I'm free you know I'll be there." She said smiling at the girl. Normani nodded her head. "No problem, just let me know! I gotta go, got stuff to do. Love you!" She stood up and kissed the older woman on the cheek before getting up, grabbing her things and walking upstairs to her room.

Nicki looked over at a hurt Beyoncé as the taller woman grabbed their cups and walked towards her kitchen. Nicki followed after.

"Bey, I'm so sorry." Nicki said felling awful. "It's not even your fault Nic, you can't control her feelings and we can't force her to love me. It is what it is, I'm just a little hurt." Beyoncé said. Nicki pouted before walking over to her friend and hugging her. Beyoncé immediately hugged her back, having heeding a good hug from someone who loved her. She can't remember the last time she was held and this was much needed.

"It's okay. I'm back and you know I'll never leave you. We can get through this together." Nicki said to the woman. Bey nodded as tears dropped from her eyes.

She definitely needed this.

2 months later

"Bitch, I swear these bitches are dumber than dumb." Beyoncé said to her friend as the two sat in the living room watching a horror movie.

Nicki giggled before nodding her head and agreeing. "They fucking beg to get killed, everytime." Nicki said. The two laughed in agreement as the movie continued on.

They heard the pitter patter of Normani's feet come down the stairs and looked over at her as she walked towards the kitchen.

"Hi Lovie!" Nicki said to her. Normani smiled and looked over at the woman before saying hi back. Beyoncé said the same, but of course, was ignored. She sighed and rolled her eyes. Not even knowing why she tried. She took another glance at her "step daughter" and seen what she was wearing.

She didn't mind it when Normani would wear reveling clothing around the house, seeing as though it was her home and they were the only two there, but seeing as though she had company, she wasn't too comfortable with it.

Her "step daughter" was wearing a pair of dark blue spankies with practically her whole ass out, thigh high socks with dark blue stripes, and a white drop top that would show her whole chest if she was to lift up her arms.

"Hey, Mani do you mind covering up?" She said the woman who continued to ignore her. Normani continued to bend over in the fridge and look for something to eat.

Beyoncé paused the movie and stood up, walking to the kitchen area.

"Normani, can you please go put on some damn clothes?" She said again. Normani stood and turned to the woman.

"Beyoncé, can you please stop talking to me like you're my damn mother?" She asked with the same amount of annoyance Bey had in her voice. Nicki peaked her head over the couch and stared at the interaction.

"I have company, now go put some clothes on or stay in your room." She said to the young her.

"This is my home, I should be comfortable however I see fit, and I am. If any of your friends are staring down your freshly new 18 year old "step daughter" and getting any thoughts inside of their heads, then you have the wrong friends and shouldn't be bringing them inside my home." She said crossing her arms under her breast. "And besides, it's just miss Nicki, it's not that serious. Leave me alone." She said turning back around and looking back into the fridge.

Beyoncé knew she had a point, you shouldn't tell girls to cover up, you should tell people to stop being perverts, but she was working on being a lot more strict with the girl, she wasn't about to let her win.

"I'm not about to argue with you little girl, stop disrespecting me in my house and go get dressed." She said. Normani slammed the fridge door.

"You're house? This is My house! That MY father bought and left for ME! You don't get to claim this shit as yours!" Nicki stood up and walked over to the two, seeing that this was starting to get out of hand.

"Lovie, there's no need to yell and there's no need for profanity just calm down." Nicki said. The two ignored her as they stared each other down.

"Who pays the damn bills little girl!" She said. Normani rolled her eyes.

"Who's name is the house in ?" Beyoncé rolled her eyes. She hates the fact that her ex husband but this house in the child's name. She found that out when they met. The reason for her hating it was because she was always afraid of him missing some payments and messing with the girls credit score, but she knew Mani begged for him to do so simply because she wanted to feel grown. Never did she think she'd be having this argument with the younger girl over who had the say so over the house.

"Just because you're dumb fuck of a father put this shit in your stupid ass name doesn't mean anything. The moment I stop paying is the moment you're out in your ass don't play with me." Normani was furious for two reasons.

1.) She hated her father, but she hated when Beyoncé would insult him even more. Although he hurt her, she felt if anyone should be talking down on her father it would be her and her only.

And 2.) She always told Beyoncé how much she hated her name. She hated her mother for giving her the name of her uncle and trying her hardest to make it feminine. Although Beyoncé always told her her name was beautiful, she always felt it couldn't been better. Although derricka wasn't any better.

"So stop! Stop paying shit and let me go! I'm leaving for school soon anyway let's get it over with now!" Normani yelled back. Beyoncé scoffed, she wasn't in the mood.

"Little girl get out of my face and go put some different clothes on." Beyoncé said turning to walk away.

"How many times do I have to tell you, you're not my fucking mother! You're nothing to me! You're some hoe next door that my father made the wrong decision of marrying, and when he came to his senses, he up and left your pathetic ass the first chance he got." Beyoncé turned around and slammed her hands on the counter.

"Your father didn't even fucking want you! Why do you think he gave you up so damn easily to a woman he was only dating for half a year and married to for one year? Why do you think he gave me the papers? Why do you think he pretended to be a fucking druggie? To get rid of you!"

She yelled back at the small young woman. Nicki was getting tired of the two playing thee game of who could hurt who the most. Enough was enough.

"Beyoncé that's enough. Y'all need to calm the hell down!" She yelled.

"No Nic! I'm so damn sick of this little bitch. Time to let her know. Your father married the first person in forever who would put up with your ass, and the first chance he got, he ditched you. I mean come on. Your mother was dead for almost an entire two decades before he finally married." She spat.

"It wasn't because he couldn't get anyone to love him, it was because he couldn't get anyone to love you!" She yelled pointing at the young woman. "He didn't even love you! Your mom didn't even love you!" She says yelling at the girl. Nicki knew where this was going and immediately tried to stop her.

"Beyoncé STOP, stop now!" She said getting upset herself. These two were unbelievable.

"Your mother fucking killed her self less than a week after your birth! She hated you Normani! Just like your father, and just like anyone else who has ever come into your life! Just like me!" Normani felt her heart being shattered. Deep know she knew that she deserved this, she knew how she was treating the woman and that it would all come pack ten fold, but she wouldn't admit to it. Deep down she also knew that she was hurting, but once again, she wouldn't admit. She wouldn't let anyone see her drop one single tear. That was a promise she made to herself many years ago.

"I hate you Normani! There I said it! Everyone does, we're so damn sick of you and your bullshit and your high fucking horse. It's time I humble yo ass." She said stepping closer to her.

"You're fucking nothing little girl." She started through gritted teeth. "You're nothing and never will be. Without me you'd me someone under a rock, begging for someone to show you any sort of kindness, but I promise you it wouldn't happen. No one would feel bad. No one would love yo ass." She said as she got closer. Nicki felt tears coming out of her own eyes as she ran up in between then and pushed her friend away from the young girl.

"Beyoncé stop it! Fuck!" She said looking at the taller woman like she was crazy. She knew the younger girl was a lot, but this was going overboard. Especially considering they both knew her history.

Normani took the glass that was sitting on the island in the kitchen and threw it on the ground, screaming. She looked at both of the women that stared her down before running up to her room and slamming her door.

Beyoncé went and slammed her body down on the coach. Nicki walked over to her friend and slapped her upside her head.

"Bey what the fuck is wrong with you, why would you take shit that far?" She asked her. Beyoncé stood up and walked towards her bedroom, Nicki following behind.

"She's been taking shit far for a while." Beyoncé said. "You're the fucking adult and guardian here you ass. You know her past why would say that shit!" Beyoncé rolled her eyes and laid down on her bed. The room was silent for awhile.

Soon Beyoncé has tears rolling down her face.

"Shit! I didn't mean to hurt her like that." She said as she slammed her hands over he face in embarrassment. Nicki hugged her friend.

"I just get so frustrated with her. I can't understand why she just hates me so much, I can't understand what I did to her. We were supposed to be planning Juilliard together, I was supposed to be getting her ready for prom and graduation. She was supposed to tell me about her first love and heartbreak and she didn't. We didn't. She threw away our bond and just pushed me away as if I did something wrong." She said slamming her hands on her bed. "And even if I did, she didn't tell me what. I couldn't help her she refused it. I couldn't fix it." She said as tears streamed down her face. Nicki whipped her tears and kissed her friends cheek.

"Bey, Bey, relax. You can't fix what you didn't break. It wasn't you, and for all you know it wasn't her. We know her history Bey, you have to be careful with her. She may seem hard and may act even harder throughout the years but we know that's not the case." She said to her friend. Beyoncé nodded. Nicki comforted her friend until her breaths became steady. After she calmed, Beyoncé spoke up.

"I really need to go talk to her." She said lifting up. Nicki pushed her back down.

"Nah, you sit back. I've got this. I'll go talk to her. You continue to calm yourself." She said. Beyoncé nodded, knowing this was the better plan. Nicki stood and exited the room, making her way down the hall to Normani's. She took a deep breath before knocking on the girls door.

"Lovie, it's Nicki." She said. She didn't get a response and decided to let herself in. She opened the door and was met with her friends "step daughter" curled into a ball laying on her bed. The girls breathing was damn near out of control.

Nicki immediately ran to her side and started to comfort the girl, knowing exactly what was happening.

"Shh, shh. It's okay Lovie, I'm right here." She said to the shaking girl. Nicki cuddled up to the young woman and stroked her arms.

"I know, I know Lovie. She didn't mean it okay?" She says trying to comfort her. She thought that maybe over the years, the girls anxiety would have gotten better, but that obviously wasn't the case. Though she wasn't shocked at the attack. She was triggered.

"Just take deep breaths Lovie, I'm right here." She said as she kissed the girls forehead. Normani tried her hardest to do what she said. She closed her eyes and tried to calm her breathing.

"I'm gonna be right back, hold on." Nicki said as she got up. She went in the hall closet to grab a small towel before running downstairs and running it in cold water. She took it back up to the girls room and applied it on her forehead, arms and back.

"Just breath. Take your time Lovie, you're okay." Nicki said. Soon the girl calmed down. Her breathing was now normal. Nicki continued to run the towel along the girls body to cool her for a bit. Soon she sat the towel on her dressed and just hugged the younger woman.

"I'm so sorry, I know Bey didn't mean any of what she said and you providing want to hear this right not but she loves you. She loves you so much, she's just very angry and confused."

The room was quiet before Normani spoke.

"Why is she confused." Normani asked in a harsh manner. Nickis eyebrows scrunched up.

"You- she doesn't understand why you hate her so much." Nicki said. Normani shifted. She didn't say anything else.

"Do you hate me?" Normani asked the older woman. Nicki sat up and looked down at the girl in confusion.

"Of course not, why would I Lovie?" Nicki asked. Normani sighed. "Because of how I've been acting towards Beyoncé." Nicki asked. She pouted a bit at the sound of Normani using her friends full name. She remembers when the young woman would refer to her as "Bumble Bee" and nothing else.

"Of course I don't hate you, and although I'm disappointed, I can't tell you how to feel or act. No matter if I agree with it or not." Nicki said as she stroked the girls hair. Normani turned and faced the older woman.

"I miss you so much." Normani said as she sat up and climbed atop the older womans lap and hugged her tightly. Nicki chuckled. "I missed you too, Lovie." Normani pulled back and stared at the woman.

"You're not going to leave again are you?" She said as she stared down in between them. Nicki shook her head before responding.

"Look at me Lovie." Normani lifted her head. "No matter where I am I'm always here for you okay? And so is Bey. You just have to give her a chanc-". Nicki was cut off by the lips of her friends "step daughter" crashing into hers.

She was shocked out of her mind and couldn't for the life of her figure out what was going on, especially after she started to kiss back and caress Normani's body as Normani deepened the kiss. Nicki felt herself melting into the kiss of the young woman but was brought out of her trance by the sound of Normani moaning.

She pulled back immediately and pushed the young girl off of her.

"Normani what the fuck." She whisper yelled at the girl. Normani looked at her confused.

"What?" She asked with an innocent look in her eyes and plastered all over her face. Nicki started to say something but instead found herself running out of the girls room and into the guest room. She grabbed some of the things she owned before making a run for the front door.

She opened the door and closed it behind her as she left the house, entered her car, and immediately started it. She drove out of the driveway and made her way to her own home as she thought about everything that happened on this way too eventful night.

"What the fuck?" She questions herself. "Did Normani really kiss me? Did I kiss her back? The fuck!" She says to herself.

"How the fuck am I going to explain this to Bey?" She says to herself as she continues the drive to her home.
