Until Dawn
It had been over a year since I last saw her, and if it were possible, she’d grown even more beautiful. Her dark hair was short, and she was letting its natural wave show, rather than making it silky straight like she had a year ago. Looking at her, all I saw was what I’d dreamed that straight hair would look like after our bodies spent hours slapping against each other.
That had been a recurring damn dream after she’d cut off all communication with me. It had filled my thoughts on many lonely nights.
Tonight my girlfriend’s beautiful plump lips were painted a bright red, and the top center dipped low, forming a perfect little V. I wanted to trace them with my tongue. Her long, feminine neck as I intended in sucking and biting. But her eyes were the showstopper. They were a pale blue that I knew firsthand darkened when she was turned on.
“Are you even listening to me?” Katy blinked twice.
Shit. I hadn’t heard a word she’d said. “Of course I am.”
She leaned forward and lowered her voice. “Then what did I just say?”
Well damn, her eyes also go hot when she’s pissed. I couldn’t wait to fuck her when she was angry and see what that looked like. “You were talking about your hotshot?”
She looked back and forth between my eyes and squinted. “Whatever. I’ve been doing all the talking this evening anyway. Tell me, Mr. Hotshot, are you cheating on me?” he asked, sipping his lower lips. But not before I cast my magical smile unto her. That magical smile must have worked so well for her in this place. I looked at that smile and saw her lips move elegantly when she uttered her question to me. When she put her head down to the pillow, I realized it was still felt like I flirt with somebody in a dream. I probably didn’t like my choice of doing things tonight. He had Elena’s diary given to me here on this small cabinet hidden because I had to.
“I don’t,” I said, quietly. And then it was my turn to play with my own soft white pillow. I didn’t really cheat on her. But I didn’t have anything to do with her either. Cheating was not my choice.
“What’s her name?” she asked. Blue eyes shifted my gaze back to her. She must’ve read my lips. She must have already been good at reading lips working this job, didn’t matter if I liked it or not.
“Elena” I said, a little louder this time. Saying the name out loud in a place like that felt odd to me that I immediately dropped my gaze down to the bed and stayed silent for a long time. She did not say anything.
She was probably waiting for me to say something. Or she was probably trying to guess what problem could I have that brought me to silence at a mention of that name. The problem was not me. It was her. She has a husband, and I was falling in love with her.
“What did you say?” I flinched, taking my view back to the woman I love in front of me, realizing that I might have said it all out loud. Or I might not, she probably could read minds too. When my eyes laid on her, she said, “What do you mean?” It was a question, but she said it so softly, so elegantly, with a smile so charmingly, I wasn’t sure if the question really demanded an answer. Not until she repeated it and I noticed a frown on her face. She wanted to know the answer. Not because of her job as a great girlfriend. Not because she had to keep me talking. She personally wanted to know the answer. The answer that I myself didn’t have.
I stood up immediately from that leather bed and left the house in a hurry, surprising her. From the glimpse of my eye I saw her coming after me. Her wavy bleached light brown hair bounced back and forth as she jogged after me, much to my girlfriend’s dismay.
I quickened my pace to the door, ignoring the striking lights of the words that began to daze me, ignoring a few hosts at the door who were probably saying something to me, and in a few minutes I was back in the street of Mystic Falls, leaving that lusty feel of my girlfriend’s half a mile behind me. In the next few minutes I was walking the dark alley leading up to again coincidentally to Elena’s porch. The next morning I flew back to her home. Back to my house. Back to Elena. ——And then back to Katy.
