Prologue
My name is Liam, and I'm called Love Guide by most of my friends, as I tend to advise them on how to show or express their feelings to their loved ones. This is about the time I got rejected by the love of my life.
As always on my by day I went to the orphanage to celebrate with orphan kids. When I heard laughs and screams from children in the backyard, I went to see what they are up to. But I got to see a wonderful scene in front of me, a girl with energetic eyes and a smile was playing with the children. I fell in love with her when I saw her hold an orphan kid who distanced himself from others and was sulking below the tree.
It reminded me so much of my adoptive mom and me back then, don't know what she said to that boy but instantly that boy started to smile wildly and played with orphan kids at the orphanage. I love her smile, caring nature, naughty attitude, and overall I love her eyes so much like my mom which reflects her thoughts.
As much as it sounds like a creep, but I can't help I started following her after the day I found her jogging in the same path as mine. I didn't have enough courage to start up a conversation with her, so I jogged behind her daily. I feel these sparks whenever we accidentally touched, I don't know whether she got them or not.
She didn't notice me till I started working in her company, later we started to have some conversations here and there regarding works that's it. But not for so long we remained as co-workers, we became office buddies after finding out our incredible love for foods. We both have some common interests and habits, like jogging in the morning, reading books, singing... I didn't tell her my little stalk during our morning jogs. After two years of developing my undying love towards her, I braced some courage after lots of pep talks with myself and proposed to her on my birthday.
I proposed to her privately on the beach after my birthday party, she right away rejected me saying she is in no state to have a relationship with me or anybody. She said she had a huge bummer in her past relationship and don't want to go there anytime soon or forever. In simple, she is scared to hear those three little words which made her life go in downhill.
I don't know what to do when she started to walk away just like that without turning back. That's the last time we talked personally, we are back to co-workers. Thankfully, I got changed to a new project so that I didn't get to see her daily. We would occasionally see each other in the lobby or cafeteria, just a simple smile and a nod then walk away in different directions.
