Prologue

“Best friends can start out as enemies, just as easily as enemies can start out as best friends.” ~K.H

December 7th, 2018, 3:48 AM

I know I’m being rushed down a never-ending hallway on a hospital stretcher, gasping for breath, hearing frantic voices all around me shouting orders as I’m getting poked and prodded with all sorts of sharp needles. I know my heart is racing and my forehead is drenched with sweat. I swallow hard, inhaling the sweet air, trying to not pass out. “Stay with us!” someone shouts, but they’re just a silhouette, as I’m already fading.

How did I get to this point? Where I’m struggling to breathe and fighting to live? Where every event in my life is flashing before my tear filled eyes?

This scary moment, is a result of the events that started happening almost two and a half years ago. After betrayal and hurt from the people I thought had my back. After being blinded for so long by the people I thought were my friends. After fighting battle after battle to get to a place I could finally be comfortable in; a time in my life where I thought I was actually accepted and treasured. It all came crashing down with a few words and the “enter” button on the keyboard of an Apple computer.

Am I bitter? No. Do I have regrets? Yes. I know I’m about to die now. 17 years old, one brother and one sister. All-star cheerleader on a 1st place national competition team. Boring? To some people, it might be. Another story about a stuck up cheerleader whose boyfriend is the school’s most popular jock. Girl who got tricked into taking drugs and drinking alcohol. Girl who cheated on her loyal boyfriend. You’ve heard it all before, right?

Wrong. If you take the time to read this, you’ll know that this isn’t just another story. You’ll figure out what really goes on behind the scenes of a top school in the US. And you’ll learn not to stereotype every kid you see, because people have masks; they hide secrets. And those secrets can either save you...

Or kill you.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
