The Beginning of an Era

To the man who loves me,

On Sunday, I woke up in bed next to you.

On Monday, I woke up for work and wished we lived together.

On Tuesday, I woke up to a sweet good morning text from you.

On Wednesday, I woke up to you climbing into bed with me.

On Thursday, I woke up from a nightmare and you answered the phone when I called.

On Friday, I woke up from dreams about you.

On Saturday, I woke up early to surprise you.

You aren’t just a star to me, you are the whole damn sky.

On days, I want someone to hold me, I talk to you.

On days, I’m having trouble with my classes, I talk to you.

On days, I want to talk to someone, I talk to you.

On days, I feel like I’m drowning, I talk to you.

On days, I get stressed out, I talk to you.

On days, I feel anxious, I talk to you.

On days, I think my world is collapsing, I talk to you.

Falling in love is like giving someone a loaded gun pointed straight at your heart

and trusting them not to pull the trigger. I trust you not to pull the trigger.

On nights, I’m crying at 3 am, I call you.

On nights, I’m feeling nauseous, I call you.

On nights, I’m shivering because it’s so cold, I call you.

On nights, I want to fall asleep next to someone, I call you.

On nights, I can’t sleep, I call you.

On nights, I can’t stop thinking, I call you.

On nights, I hear strange noises, I call you.

If you live to be a hundred I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, that way

I never have to live without you.
