Chapter 1: The Message
Duststorm sat staring straight down the cliffs the waves pounding in her ears. The wind buffeted her wings. The salt spray burnt her eyes occasionally. “Duststorm, you ok?” Savanah, her mother who was a SandWing asked. “Fine.” She hissed bothering to glance back at her mother. “We need to leave, Blister is our last hope to have coverage and a home in this war.”
“I’ve already recevied a letter from her messenger with a task that must be completed before she accepts us into her army.”
“Oh, good! What is the task?” Savanah asked excitedly.
“An assasination.” She recalled the words that shook her. ‘For Blister to allow you and your mother into her army you must assasinate Hawk. Scarlet’s second in command.’ My father. She remembered the pain of her father leaving her mother as he saw Duststorm. But what has to be done will be done.
Her mother had never really supported assassins. “Go on…?”
“Father,” She spat turning around to face the pale SandWing. “I will go and kill him than we will fly to Agate mountain. With his body.”
Savanah let her wings droop and tears fill her eyes. She nodded. Duststorm wrapped her wings around her mother. “I’ll be back before you know it. If I dont come back in a week fly away and don’t look back.”
“But,” She started. “No. I’ll see you soon.” Duststorm finished for her mom. Before her mom could respond she lept over the edge of the out cropping and snapped her wings opened
