Eight-year-old Chuck and nine-year-old Julienne vanished from Manger, Kentucky without a trace. Afterwards, the town of Manger turned in on itself. Payden was part of a large and unusual birth cohort born in the nine to twelve months after the disappearances, a cohort nicknamed “the insurance children.” Everything begins to change when thirteen-year-old Minka moves to town and makes it her mission to bring Manger outside. But another child is taken. Minka and Payden must solve the mystery to save the town.
